Jones OBrien Receive Top Conference Awards

Spider mentor Frank Jones and quarterback Buster OBrien led Richmond to yearend Southern Conference honors. Jones repeated as Football Coach of the Year with 47 of 60 votes while OBrien won Football Player of the Year with 38 of 60 votes.

SGA Sponsors Train To Tangerine Bowl

The Tangerine Bowl bound Spider men will be backed by alumni and students with a SGA train from Richmond to Orlando on Dec 27. Special Seaboard rates and a 160 passenger Spider Club chartered plane are arranged with telecast by Sports Network and WXEX-TV. The one day trip costs 66 for train including ticket and lodging or 75 for plane with ticket and lodging. Reservations close Dec 10 with 160 needed.

Pro Musica Presents The Play of Herod Here

Pro Musica will present The Play of Herod Monday night at 8 15 p m in Cannon Memorial Chapel. Sponsored by the Virginia Chamber of Music Society, Dr John Reeves White directs Pro Musica and helped found the Virginia Chamber of Music Society and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra. Tickets are $5 at the Virginia Museum Theatre box office, with extra seats at the door.

William C Battle former ambassador to Australia and Virginia attorney visits Westhampton College campus as the first in a gubernatorial candidate series. He meets classes attends a seminar and speaks at a public 7 pm program with Q and A and a Keller Hall reception. Battle outlines a leadership view between Pollard Howell and emphasizes Virginia independence from old party ties.

C P Promises FAB Phones In Near Future

Dr Charles H Wheeler II University treasurer says telephones will be installed soon in the Fine Arts Building which has lacked service since opening in September. C&P Telephone Co of Virginia had promised phones in October and reported the order is on track.
