Dance Section to Feature Richmond College Junior Prom

The 1937 Web plans a special Dance Section with sponsors for major dances at Richmond College. Hilda Kirby of Westhampton College is set as Junior Prom sponsor for tonight, with other sponsors to be named as events occur. The Web will include rare dance floor photos and raise subscriptions to 2.75 dollars on December 14.

Coker Inaugurates Sixth President Dr C Sylvester Green

Dr S C Mitchell delivers the principal address at the inauguration of Dr C Sylvester Green as the sixth president of Coker College Hartsville South Carolina. Green, 36, formerly pastor at Grove Avenue Baptist Richmond, has led the college since the start of the current term. Other speakers include Dr J Rian McKessick USC president Dr Thurman D Kitchin Wake Forest College and Dr James H Hoye state superintendent of education.

Queenie Leads Westhampton High at Richmond College Prom

Prom sponsor Miss Kirby, a Westhampton High junior, is dubbed Queenie by a writer as she heads the dance at Richmond College. Mildred Markham and Norman Cavedo join in with a glittering specialty dance, adding glamour and a new feature to the event.

Westhampton Seniors Plan Simple May Day Ceremony

Westhampton seniors adopt a simple May Day plan for this year restoring a nonannual format from 1932. The May Queen leads a court of six to eight maids with each class presenting a program segment. Freshmen perform a maypole dance, sophomores present flowers, juniors stage a decorative dance with pastel colors to Strauss music.

Seniors Hold Tea for Westhampton Students

Westhampton seniors host an informal tea for students and faculty Sunday from 4 to 6 in the Social Center Building. Miss Rivenburg sponsor and Margaret Harris president will receive guests. Fall flowers and leaves decorate the rooms. Margaret Dudley leads decoration and arrangements committees.

University Players Set Date for Five One Act Plays

The University Players announce five one act plays on January 15 directed by members of the group. William Clyde Hamilton directs The Valiant and Harold Phillips handles The Man Who Died at 12 o Clock. Frances W. Tyndall directs Rising of the Moon. Martha Ann Freeman leads Brothers in Arms, Buddy Phillips presents Bargains in Cathay. Performances are both afternoon and evening with season tickets or special invitations.
