Milton G Hitt Named Harlequin Club President for year

At a Harlequin Club meeting reorganizing the group elected Milton G Hitt as president for the ensuing year with Kenneth McRae as secretary and Robert W Neathery Jr as treasurer. New committees were formed to carry on club work as members list Milton Hitt and other active figures.

University of Richmond Campaign Extended to 1927

The Virginian Baptist General Association granted a petition to extend the Centennial Campaign for 2 million dollars into 1927. About 350,000 has been subscribed so far with ongoing efforts. Dr. F W Boatwright leads with Rev. R A Lansdell Rev J W Reams and Rev R S Monds assisting. Maryland Baptists pledge supports for Maryland Hall. Norfolk congregations join the canvass after Portsmouth and Accomac Association efforts.

Fall Examination Schedule Announced for English Lit

Examinations for the fall term begin Thursday Dec 106 and run to Wednesday morning Dec 22. Following last year’s successful plan all sections of English Lit will take the same exam at the same time, a system extended to other courses in the program.

Fall appointments to the Richmond Collegian editorial staff name four freshmen and one junior John W Kinchlee Jr Joseph E Nettles Lawrence Bloomberg John 8 Hoffecker and Walker Florence. Staff appointments follow beat work during a two or three month term and are open to all students with try outs encouraged by department heads. Semi annual appointments occur before Christmas and before spring vacation.

Dr Louis Cornish to Speak on Roumania at Westhampton

Dr Louis Cornish, chairman of the American Committee to investigate religious minorities in Roumania, will lecture on Religious Conditions in Roumania in the Red Cross Building Tuesday December 7 at 7 15 PM. The talk is sponsored by Westhampton College history department with general public invited.

Clean Journalism Plea by Pi Delta Epsilon Speaker

Henry C. Doyle of George Washington University was principal speaker at Pi Delta Epsilon’s installation banquet at Murphy's Hotel on Friday night November 26. Doyle, grand vice president, urged clean journalism in colleges and outlined fraternity plans and southern versus northern chapters. The fraternity aims to advance undergraduate and graduate journalists and raise campus publication standards for eligible two year journalism students.

Richmond Night at National Theatre Promised Campus Music

University of Richmond promotes a Richmond Night event at the National Theater featuring Westhampton Glee Club Spider Chanters and Rat Orchestra. The program includes Forever After with football scenes and campus songs. Other colleges may participate in future shows as Musicians' Club and University publicity directors push the series.

The Richmond University Players postpone the Fall production Arms and the Man due to uncontrollable conditions. Rehearsals had been under way but the show will not be presented on December 3 at the Woman's Club as scheduled.

Westhampton College senior class offers wood cuts from an original block by Warren Chappell a former Richmond College student. The prints depict the Westhampton tower and support the Woman's Building Fund. Students frame them or make stationery with many buying as Christmas cards.

Westhampton College Mourns Father of Student

The community expresses sympathy to Charlotte Logan on the death of her father G. W. Logan of Salem Virginia. He died suddenly Monday morning at age 83. A Civil War veteran and prominent local citizen he remained active until his passing.

Collegian in Final Appearance This Term

The Richmond Collegian will not publish again until January 7, 1927 due to Christmas intermission. The usual final issue before Christmas is skipped to focus on the winter term opener, with a special edition planned on outstanding university improvements for next term.

Westhampton Faculty Attend Sesquicentennial Phi Beta Kappa

Five Westhampton College faculty members attended the Phi Beta Kappa sesquicentennial convention at William and Mary College held last Friday and Saturday. Attendees included Dr May L Keller dean Miss Pauline Turnbull Dr Grace Landrum Miss Reading and Dr Virginia Withers. Dean Keller reported favorably on the conference in chapel Monday morning noting the event commemorated the founding of Phi Beta Kappa.

Westhampton Alumnae Banquet Returns Alumni Night

Westhampton held its annual Thanksgiving banquet with a large alumnae return. Maude Everhart acted as toastmistress while Margaret Powell Elinor Physioc Eugenia Riddick and Lois McIntosh delivered toasts. After dinner attendees sang Hail Alma Mater and cheered Dietitian Mrs Black. Buck Ashton of 1925 led post banquet activities for students in the Red Cross building.

Declamation Contest Held by University of Richmond February

The annual declamation contest will be held in February sponsored by the University of Richmond and recognizing all high schools in Virginia. For the first time Tau Kappa Alpha, the national honorary forensic fraternity, will conduct the event.
