Queen Named For Annual Junior Prom In Richmond

Miss Helen Stevens daughter of Mr and Mrs George Stevens of Richmond will reign as queen of the Junior Prom on December 8. J Fulmer Bright mayor of Richmond will crown her with Jimmy Turkington president of the Junior Class by her side. Sweet music by Bill Loren and his orchestra with Bob Post and Rod Benjamin will accompany the event. Prices for advance 90 cents single 1 26 couple. door sale 1 10 single 1 40 couple. Juniors wear white carnations and dates wear white gowns. The junior prom is the year’s main social function with a capacious crowd expected.

Electoral Board Reappoints Students to Planning Commission

Jack Noffsinger and Carlson Thomas, both last year’s Planning Commission members, were reappointed by the Electoral Board. One senior and three juniors joined the planning group, with William Maner as senior member and Robert Keil, Thomas Pugh, and Edmund Massie as new juniors. The board, chaired by President Boatwright, plus Dean Pinchebeck and others, approved the appointments in the President’s office.

Westhampton College seniors present Sit N Bull dorm play

About 21 seniors stage Sit N Bull a mystery in three acts titled The March of 40 at 8 15 pm in the Playhouse. Peg Virginia Bugg drives the plot through a Blue Room hall dining room bedroom and Front Arch with a final dorm sendoff.

Miss Monsell Remembers First Collegian at Westhampton

Helen Monsell now Richmond College registrar recalls 1914 when Westhampton College sophomore and 24 others watched the Collegian’s first issue go to press. She calls that year a peak in University of Richmond history and notes the Messenger’s role before the newspaper’s birth. Joy Sutherland’s Hip Pocket Essays and slang featured in early editions.
