Westhampton May Day Set With Love Theme
Westhampton College plans a May Day celebration on Saturday May 6 with a Love theme. Queen Ann Garland Green and Maid of Honor Georgemond Hardee lead a court including Kay Hanley Molly Warner Frances Wolf Lois Hester and Ann Butcher. Activities start 3 pm with booths Puppet Shop cafe fortune teller sketches and games. Proceeds from the Puppet Show go to China Relief. A Punch and Judy performance follows at 4 pm crowned at 4 46 pm. The main Dance Pageant in the week Theatre presents four Love themed scenes Love of Humanity Love of Aesthetics Love of the Individual and Love of Religion.

The Westhampton Glee Club staged its annual Pop Concert in the college dining room on Friday night April 21. Under Mrs. F Flaxington Harker direction performers wore formal attire with Mary Lucy Willis at the piano. The program featured vocal numbers for the main choir and a sextet plus clarinet selections with beverages and cigarettes sold by hostesses.

Richmond College Debating Team Fares Second in Eastern Meet
Richmond College debaters Charles Young and Joel Harnett placed second at the Grand Eastern contest in Charlotte North Carolina April 6 7 and 8. Johns Hopkins won first with Mars Hill College tied for second. The team faces further debates including Columbia University in New York May 2 Johns Hopkins in Baltimore May 3 and a final May 4 in Baltimore.

University of Richmond Opens Summer Session
The University of Richmond will run a summer session from June 9 to August 31 under Prof W B Prince. Courses include biology chemistry economics education English French history math physics psychology philosophy and Spanish. Dorm space is limited with men housed in fraternity houses or nearby homes and women in the dormitory. Room and board are $76 per term.

University Players Stage My Sister Eileen Tonight and Tomorrow
University Players present My Sister Eileen at the Playhouse directed by Alton Williams with Evermond Hardee as assistant. Howard Elected Honor Council Head 1944 45
In the 1944-45 student government elections Joel Harnett of Richmond defeated Jimmy Ellwanger for President after a disputed April vote led to a special election. Kenneth Howard of Lynchburg won the Honor Council Chairman post. other officers include Phillip Hart Vice President Julian Pentecost Secretary Billy Stigall Treasurer. A special April 25 vote gave Harnett the presidency by eleven votes with wide student turnout.

Antoinette Reed plays Flight of the Bumblebee, Gertrude Wayne performs Sonata, Helen Porter plays a Hydn concerto. Elsie Minter sings Since We Parted and Lauterbach, Mary Campbell offers Dedication Cradle Song and O No John, Betsy Wilkinson sings My Heart Ever Faithful, Mary Lou Massie and Patricia Husbands close with Italian Concerto.
