Mortar Board Tap Ceremony Moves to Greek Theatre Tonight

The Westhampton Mortar Board chapter will hold its annual tap ceremony at 8 PM in Luther H. Jenkins Greek Theatre due to weather. Junior Class members are invited as Mildred Alexander and Isabel Taliaferro outline the society’s aims before a torchlit, W-shaped formation and a unique tapping of new Juniors.

German Problem Is Topic of Talk

Dr Lough head of Westhampton College history department spoke to the YY, WC A last Thursday on current international issues. He traced parallels between medieval Jew treatment and present persecutions, warned of Hitler’s impact on peace and allied fears of a broader central European bloc. He noted the League of Nations meets annually and remains fragile as democracy relies on every member.

Richmond hosts two day Ta Kappa Alpha Virginia convention

The annual Ta Kappa Alpha Virginia convention travels to Richmond College for two days starting Friday April 28 with 3 PM registration. Lt Governor James H. Price will speak and Benjamin Ruffin will provide the keynote address at the official dinner presided by Dr Pinchbeech. Saturday features a second business meeting luncheon, officer elections, and a Richmond Stadium baseball game between the University of Richmond and William and Mary, capped by a final dinner with Dr Harlan presiding.

Baltimore Editor Speaks Before I R C

Dr Richard Cary associate editor of The Baltimore Sun spoke to the International Relations Club of Westhampton College Monday night. His talk mixed informal humor with insights on Hitler and political power while noting English attitudes on Europe and propaganda.

The Jester Presented by Westhampton Puppeteers

The Spiderette Marionettes staged an April 18 adaptation of Lady Gregory The Jester at the Tower Theatre Westhampton Colene for a specially invited audience. The fairy tale follows three Wren boys exchanged with three princes, facing an ogre and adventures before returning home wiser.

Dedication Day for Maryland Hall at Richmond College

On Friday April 28 Maryland Hall dedication will feature Dr. Thomas Barbour of Harvard University as the main speaker. An academic procession will precede a 11:20 a m address in Cannon Memorial Chapel followed by lunch with biology faculty. A 2 40 p m round table includes Dr Ivey Lewis and Dr Donald W Davis with talks continuing until four. A four to five o’clock reception and hall inspection precedes convocation on campus architecture by J B Walford. Barbour's visit links to Dr J W Bailey then head of Richmond’s Biology Department.

Dramatists Initiated by Alpha Psi Omega at College Banquet

Neophyte dramatists and production artists were initiated into Alpha Psi Omega at a Tuesday night ceremony after a banquet in the college refectory. Richmond and Westminster students honored include Catherine Geoghegan Margaret Proctor Vivian Barnett Virginia Sanford Frances Smith Kingsley Freeman Julien Gunn and Mac Trawick plus undergraduates J Gray and Joseph McConnaughey. Alpha Psi Omega, with seventy six chapters nationwide, aims to honor dramatic work and raise amateur theatre standards.

Freshmen Face John Marshall At University Stadium

This afternoon the Freshmen oppose John Marshall at University Stadium. Coach Pitt will deploy Hashon Sanders on the mound with Lacy catching. Moore and Shaughnessy are expected to form the battery for the high school nine. The game starts at 3 30 P M.

Richmond College Nomination Meetings Set for 1933 34 Officers

On April 24 the three lower classes will nominate officers for 1933 34 under new Student Senate rules. Nominations are limited to ten per office in order president senator vice president secretary treasurer and historian. Final balloting will be May 1 in the Faculty Room with secret ballots.

Varsity Club Dance Set for Richmond College April 29

The Varsity Club of Richmond College will host a dance April 29 in the Roger Millhiser Gymnasium from 9 to 12. Tickets sold for the April 15 date will be honored at the door. Henry Bryan and his orchestra will furnish the music, following prior campus successes.

Honor Council Named as Plan Passes Student Body

A special election for the office of Senator at Large will be held Friday April 28. Candidates must be affirmed by three Richmond College students and submitted to Secretary Charles Arendall by Tuesday April 25 at 1 PM. A drop box will be at the Student Shop for candidacies. The election follows Ed Haddock’s resignation to join the Honor Council.

New Appointees to Go Into Office Immediately

Richmond College students approve a constitutional amendment establishing an Honor Council. The council will enforce the honor system and report to the dean for approval of actions. President Daley appoints seven members and Stuart Cool as chairman. The panel begins duties immediately.

Glee Club Elects Officers Plans May 5 Dance and Recital

The Glee Club elected O. B. Falls Jr. as president and Vivian Bethel as vice president at its meeting last Thursday. Fritz Freund becomes secretary-treasurer, Sam Bagby librarian, and Gary Bousman business manager. The May 5 concert starts at 7:30 PM in the new Playhouse, followed by a 4 PM to midnight dance in Millhiser Gym. tickets cover both events with an open bid issued.

Richmond College Catalogue Out Much Changed in Make-Up

The Richmond College catalogue shows a new binding impression and white fly leaf with improved paper and print. It adds a faculty schedule listing professors before class and separates graduate from undergraduate departments. The review notes new notices under General Information and suggests including social fraternities in future editions.
