Westhampton Varsity team consisting of Marian Clark and Mary Ann Hall argued socialism as an alternative in a no decision debate on the resolution that capitalism has failed in the United States. Miss Keller presided. Dr. Pinchbeck spoke on capitalism’s failure and socialism’s advantages. The next debate will be against Maryland University with a large crowd expected.

Westhampton College elected officers for the coming year across the Junior Senior and Sophomore classes. Katheryn Harris of Richmond was chosen president of the Senior Class with Mary Ruffin Jones as vice president and Fay Gunter as secretary. Edna Clare became treasurer and Katherine Geoghegan was named representative to college government. Elizabeth Seay was named cheerleader.

May Day Pageant Set for Centennial Celebration
Westhampton seniors plan a large scale May Day pageant on May 10 in the Greek Theatre as the climax of the Centennial. The play adapts Spenser's Faerie Queen with Una and the Red Cross Knight as central figures and features new roles like the wizard stage manager and assistants. The all college event includes the entire student body, with rehearsals daily and costumes by Miss Cunningham and dances by Miss Hall.

Athletic Board at Westhampton will award letters on a percentage basis after a student body meeting on April 6. Letters will be earned for skill 5 percent, training rules 25 percent, and enthusiasm 20 percent, giving any varsity member or substitute a chance to earn a letter and boosting competition.
