Fraternity Row Construction Funds Approved by Trustees

University President George M. Modlin announced the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees approved appropriations for road and water sewage work to enable Fraternity Row. The committee also vetoed off campus dances and pledged $150 scholarship aid to two European displaced person students. Building plans for a Student Activities Building were reviewed and detailed plans are to be prepared.

Miss Covington Elected Vice President at Westhampton

Barbara Covington won the Westhampton College Government Association vice presidency on March 23 as 8496 students voted in the secondary elections. She defeated Agnes Pield and has held roles in Residence Council Tonian Music Club and Glee Club, plus leadership in basketball Mortar Board and other campus groups.

Short Is Elected Y' Cabinet Head

Short was elected president of the YMCA cabinet at a regular meeting April 1, replacing Dick Whitehead. He has served this year as state secretary of the collegiate YMCA organization. New officers include Bill Chappel as vice president Jim Payne recording secretary Bob Stone corresponding secretary and Everette Weakley treasurer. Installations planned for April 19.

Greek Week Sparks At Millhiser Field And Playhouse

Zeus invites himself to Greek Week as fraternity athletes train for the upcoming meet at Millhiser Field. Fraternities pledge strict training and punishing quitters with lifetime ban from Buddy Mayo's, while ambulances stand ready. Stunt Night at the Playhouse promises raucous acts and saucy humor amid police oversight.

Harmony Need Stressed By Sease at Meeting

The Senate confirmed Jimmy Sease's appointments to the Honor Council for next year. New officers will begin in the fall with Aubrey Williams as sophomore rep, Thomas Garnett and John Weaver as junior reps, and Lewis Booker, Marvin El Menkes as seniors. Booker will fill the vacancy left by Doot Dunford for the rest of the year and then next fall. The new Senate stressed cooperation at its first meeting.

Olympics and Costume Bail Highlight Week at Richmond College Greek Week

Richmond College's Greek Week kicks off April 10 with a Browning address at River Road Baptist Church. Monday features the Greek Week Olympics at Millhiser Field with a toga theme and torch procession. Events continue Tuesday with a business education talk by Bank of Virginia president Thomas Boushall and a song contest. Wednesday hosts stunt night, followed by no special event Thursday due to a baseball game. The finale is a costume ball Friday at Millhiser Gym with prizes for best costumes.

Easter Messenger to Feature New Pages and Art

The Easter Messenger will be the largest issue of the year distributed on Good Friday April 15 under editor Peavy Harris. Extra funding from Richmond College Student Government adds pages with more cartoons illustrations and new features including Drawing of the Month and veterans hobby articles. CS Taylor winner of Pi Delta Epsilon prize will perform Merry-go-round in the issue and Mimi Thalenberg will write sonnets alongside Flora Zbar's New York poem and Coach Pitt Speaks.

Wright's YWCA Leadership Earns Co-Chair Role

Westhampton College sophomore Eleanor Wright has been elected co-chairman of the Virginia State Young Women's Christian Association Cynthia Patrick president of the Westhampton Y reveals the selection. Wright's work includes Russia relations publicity for the Intercollegian and representation at a Berea College YWCA conference. She plans a three month Europe work-study tour this summer and will visit Britain France and Switzerland before a Bremen German Inter work Camp stay.

Class Officer Nominations Deadline Set at Richmond College

Richmond College announces nominations for class officers in three grades Sophomore Junior and Senior with a noon deadline on April 25. Each nomination requires three signatures and approval by registrar Miss Helen Mansell. Voting will be by freshman sophomore and junior classes for presidents vice presidents secretaries treasurers and senators. Nominations go in the Alumni Office box in the Administration Building.

Religious Council Spring Retreat Planned at Camp Richmond

The University Religious Activities Council holds its annual Spring Retreat at Camp Richmond today to review this year's activities and plan next year's program. Dick Whitehead and Cynthia Patrick, presidents of YMGA and YWGA, will preside at the meeting.
