Obituary: Mrs Metta Stegeman Dies After Illness

Mrs. Metta Stegeman died Monday at her daughter Gerrit Steenbergen’s Sheldon home after an extended illness. A about 78, she moved from Boyden to Sheldon three months ago. She leaves four daughters Mrs Richardson of Illinois, Mrs O C Blessing and Mrs Gerrit Steenbergen of Sheldon, and Mrs H Sterrenberg of Rock Valley, plus son Herman Stegeman near Boyden. Funeral Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Steenbergen home, 2 p.m. at St Johannes Church north of Boyden. Rev Flentje and Rev Badtke to officiate. Complete obituary next week.

Ford Owners Invited to Tri State Editorial Meeting

Nearly two hundred editors from Iowa Nebraska and South Dakota gathered in Sioux City for the fourth annual Tri State Editorial Association meeting. Activities included a Chamber of Commerce arranged program with receptions at the Fair Grounds Country Club and Orpheum, a luncheon by the Sioux City Journal and Tribune, boxing exhibitions, and a buffet luncheon at the Whitney Athletic Club. The event wrapped with officer elections and plans to return in 1924. Ford magneto recharging advertised by Albert Grooters with a magnetizer just purchased and free test. Large head lettuce advertised at 11 5c and 20c at Vand en Brink's.

Mrs Verna Work To Manage Van Dyke Furniture Store

Mrs Verna Work will assume management of the Van Dyke furniture store starting October 1. Arthur Van Dyke leaves Boyden to join the firm and will reside in Sheldon while continuing to support the Boyden store with repairs and framing.

Boyden Property Sold At Auction

The Benj Heemstra property four acres with buildings sold last Saturday afternoon to Paul Schreuder for 4600. A large crowd attended the sale led by Col Van Zyl of Sheldon and clerk S G Vanden Brink. The Heemstra family will move to California after settling remaining goods.

Citizenship Club Meeting Agenda Outlined

The Citizenship Club will meet October 5 at the town hall. The program includes a song from the club song book, immigration discussion, property Community Recreation, a new plan for character education, and a round table on the club constitution.

Dorothy Mae Rensink Wins Better Babies Contest

Dorothy Mae Rensink, daughter of Mr and Mrs Gerrit Rensink of Boyden, won first prize and the blue ribbon in the 5th division of the Better Babies Contest at the Interstate Fair in Sioux City last week. The two year old scored 98.2 and her parents made trips to the fair on Wednesday and Friday.
