A Sioux City Tribune feature shows the Wiersma family of 11 brothers from Orange City, all registered for or in military service. The clan includes William sheriff, Henry farmer, John auctioneer, Edgerton Minnesota, Jacob farmer, Joseph in France, Garret at Camp Pike, Pier in implement business, Dowie at Camp Pike, and Samuel farmer. All aged 20 to 43, they were born and raised on a farm three miles north of the city. Mrs Smidt sold 100 acres near Minnesota with the writer accompanying the trip.

Public School Closes Two Weeks Over Flu Fears

Anna Magaretha Kruse nee Nintzel died Friday at her country home northwest of Boyden after a brief illness She was born October 17 1847 in Lamstedt Hanover Germany She married Friedrich Kruse June 3 1870 and eight children were born The family moved to Sheridan township Sioux County in 1876 and she was a devout German Lutheran parishioner The Reporter offers condolences to survivors including husband eight children six sons two daughters and one daughter who died in infancy.
