Mrs Abe Vande Garde hosted a miscellaneous shower at her home Tuesday evening for her daughter Muriel on the eve of her marriage to Vernon Koiker. Fifteen guests attended as the bride elect received many gifts. The evening included games and a two course luncheon.
Boyden High defeated Archer 32 to 24 in a steady contest. Key moments came from fast breaks and strong defense by Den Herder and Stykhuis, limiting Archer to two field goals. Doorenhoek hit the game winner for the seconds as Archer edged ahead late in the first half.
Miss Muriel Van Rennes daughter of Mr and Mrs Abe Vande Garde and Vernon Kooiker son of Mr and Mrs Nick J Kooiker wed at 1st Reformed Church parsonage Nov 20 1947 in a double ring ceremony Rev C Postma officiated. The couple will reside in Waterloo after a brief Minnesota visit. The second wedding unites Miss Hermina Jansen daughter of Mr and Mrs T Jansen of Orange City and Willis Uittenbogaard son of Mr and Mrs Gerrit Uittenbogaard of Boyden in Boyden. The ceremony at the bride's parents' home featured white satin with seed pearls and a reception in Orange City followed by a short program and luncheon. The couple will live near Sioux Center.
Sunday services list Sabbath School at 10 00 morning worship at 11 00 evening service at 7 30 Bible study and meetings through the week include U P C U choir practice missionary society and week day classes for children with services led by Mrs Horn and Mrs Scholten to conserve religious life attend church regularly.
The First Reformed Church with Pastor C. Postma schedules 9:30 morning worship with guest preacher Rev H vendam and 1:30 afternoon worship plus 3:00 Sunday School on December 1. An 8:00 annual congregational meeting follows for officer elections. Catechism classes for youth and adults on Tuesday at 7:30 and 8:30.

Town marshal reports large footprints near an oil heater barrel at the Boyden fire station. The oil valve had been screwed shut to prevent flow threatening engine readiness and potential arson by proxy.
Three Girl Scout Troops held a Scouts Own Program in the High School Gymnasium from 4 to 6 PM. Brownies performed a short play, Intermediate Troop advanced the Colors and sang The Hymn of Scouting, Senior Troop presented a one act play. Troop Committee and mothers served cake and drinks after. Intermediate Scouts met Wednesday afternoon at Mrs Howard Verrips's home.
