Sioux County Secon Liberty Loan Totals Released

The county reports a Second Liberty Loan total of 1 056 000 with 940 200 subscribed. Boyden contributed 76 000 with 21 050 subscribed or 27 percent. Chatsworth Alton Hawarden Sioux Center Orange City and Ireton oversubscribed while many towns lagged.

Town Council Proceedings November Fifth, 1917

The town council met in regular session with Mayor Eddy presiding. Present were Dickevers Mahoney Blessing Bergman. Stehrenberg absent. Treasurer reported receipts and disbursements and a balance of 2208.88. Bills allowed for Claus Schade 48.00 H Maris 5.60 Veenschoten Bros 4.05. Meeting adjourned.

Pool Hall Change of Ownership In Boyden

Henry J. Meyn who owned the pool hall since February sold it to Fred Wilkins. Wilkins, a Boyden carpenter, plans to run the business this winter as carpenters slow for the season. He announces his new venture to the public.

Study Center at Hull Public School Saturday

Public notice announces a Study Center program at Hull Public School this Saturday November 10 with sessions on teaching pupils to study, color in daily life, recitation, and paper cutting led by G. W. Walters and Vivian Dunlap. Attendance earns new renewal credits. The meeting was moved from Rock Valley to Hull to ensure participation.

Visitation Ties Family to Ill Relative Across States

Mrs Otto Rowenhorst and children and Mr Nick Versteeg of Monroe South Dakota arrived at Boyden Friday afternoon to aid their mother Mrs A Versteeg who is seriously ill. The William Grooters family of Sanborn and John Versteeg of Sheldon were also in town last weekend. John H Dykstra went to Springfield South Dakota to handle business and visit relatives and reports selling his farm. Mrs R C Bryant left for Crocker South Dakota to visit her sister Mrs Hillasfox for a week.

Pioneer Farmers Club Hosts First Social of Season

The Pioneer Farmers Club entertained members and friends at the town hall last Friday evening. It was the club’s first social affair of the season with monthly meetings planned. Guests enjoyed games a short program music from the orchestra and refreshments.
