Mr and Mrs Egbert Koole of Perkins visited the Schortinghuis residence Sunday. The Schortinghuisses recently moved from Matlock and are occupying the Veenschoten house in town.
Miss Marvella Grooters departed Sunday for Chicago to teach in Evergreen Park for the rest of the term. Prof. Ben De Jong serves as school superintendent.
Wm Heitritter near Matlock keeps Holsteins with strong yields. One cow on test three years ago produced 4.1 butterfat and 94 pounds of milk daily equal to 47 quarts. Last year the herd of five yielded 1270 pounds of butterfat with ordinary feeding. Two heifers are daughters of the high producing cow.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Van Stryland and Mr. Bill Van Stryland of Orange City visited the John Van Roeker home Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Nick DeBoer and family of Rock Valley visited in the K. T. Hartsuiker home Tuesday.
Sioux County leads Iowa in new schoolhouses with 101 modern rural schools replacing older buildings since 1918. Standardization and modern features include one room plus basement, storm cave, furnaces, lighting, ventilation, oak floors, and chemical closets. Plans call for 14 more next summer and 66 more to be standardized, reflecting a bold rural education campaign under Superintendent Charles H. Tye.
