Boyden High School Awards Honor 1957 Graduates

At the May 20 awards assembly in the Boyden High School gym, Paula Zimmer earned Valedictorian honors though not a full four years at Boyden. Dennis Fuhr was named Salutatorian. LeRoy Bomgaars won the Citizenship awards from both the faculty and the Iowa Bar Association. Ruth Steunenberg received the Readers Digest Award for scholastic achievement and community and church involvement.

Teachers Honor Leaving Faculty at Moret Home

After the Bac calaureate services Mr and Mrs Henry L Moret and Mrs Mabel Jenison entertained Sunday evening at the Moret home honoring Miss Mattie Peelen and Mrs Bertha Dykstra who will leave the faculty staff at term’s end. Change in Holiday Service At the Boyden Post Office

The Boyden post office will overhaul holiday operations to cut costs. Starting May 30 and on all holidays thereafter, window service is eliminated. An employee will handle mail from 10:00 am to noon, distributing newspapers and train mail, with all mail for the afternoon train due before noon for dispatch. Patrons may collect mail only from 10:00 am to noon. the door will stay locked otherwise.

Warne to Receive Doctorate in Educational Psychology

Earl K. Warne of Atlantic Iowa will receive a Doctorate in Educational Psychology and Guidance on May 28 at Colorado State College in Greeley Colorado. He will join Eastern Montana College of Education as psychology instructor counselor and training chief next fall.

Senior and polio clinic events scheduled in Boyden

Final exercises for local seniors and a polio clinic are planned. Hull notes a second polio clinic Friday May 24 with bus transport at 9:00 am for ages from pre school to 20. Boyden graduation exercises Thursday May 23 at 8:00 pm at the Boyden Public School Auditorium feature Rev C Muyskens as speaker and include processional invocations salutatory address music and diplomas.

Marilynn Kammlade to Graduate as Technician

Miss Marilynn Kammlade daughter of Mr and Mrs E C Kammlade will graduate as a registered medical technician on Sunday afternoon May 26. Graduation will be held at Heelen High School Sioux City Iowa following twelve months of training at St Josephs School of Medical Technology. She attended Westmar College as a science major for two years and is a Boyden High School Class of 54 graduate. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.

Local Health Notes from Sheldon and Sioux Falls

Mrs Leonard Kleyne returns home from Shel don hospital after improving from illness. Mrs Henry Broesder underwent surgery in Sheldon hospital and is recovering at home. Mrs John Humme of Hull is ill with a heart ailment and had light attacks this week. Mr Henry Bosman remains hospitalized at St Josephs Sioux City but shows improvement and will stay for several days for specialized treatment. Art Vander Veen of Sioux Falls is a patient at Sioux Valley hospital with visits from Mr and Mrs John Sitter.
