The United Chautauqua Co. schedules Boyden events for July 23 24 and 25 at Des Moines announces tentative program details. Local businessmen back 3375 guarantee requiring 250 adult tickets at 1.50 each. Children’s season tickets priced at 75 cents. Tickets to go on sale in Boyden stores. further announcements to follow in The Reporter.
L Schaap sells his 160 acre farm east of Boyden to Albert Dethmers for 365 dollars per acre. The land has no buildings and was held by Schaap for a little over a year with a noted price rise.
The Sioux county board of supervisors unanimously called a special election for June 10 to decide hard surfacing about 70 miles of main roads using federal and state funds plus special assessments. If approved, about ten miles could be paved each year starting in 1920 without new taxes. Local farmers favor hard surfacing as officials explain the law and funding details.
The Boyden pool hall changed hands last Thursday from Ot to Stange to David Holmes. Holmes will operate Saturdays and evenings in the summer while farming an 80 acre tract, and plans daily presence in fall and winter when pool hall business peaks. Stange sold after six months of ownership.
The youngest child of Mr and Mrs George Mlazgar died last Friday morning after a several day illness. The eighteen month old baby was the pride of the household. The body was taken to Lakefield Minnesota on Tuesday for burial with Chas Frohwein and Fred Starkweather Jr accompanying the remains. The Reporter extends sympathy to the bereaved parents.
Frank Conner gains a 320 acre Marshal County farm near Britton as J A Stutzman coordinates the sale from Jake Tiedemann. Conner trades in modern town property for the purchase. The H M Rembaugh family plans to move to Nemaha Iowa this summer where he will lead a public school as superintendent. Mrs Frank Conner hosted the B and Club on Wednesday afternoon.
