Iowa Resumes 2 Percent Sales Tax Structure For Most Items
Iowa tax officials clarified post July 1 tax rules noting beer and cigarettes retain a permanent 2 percent levy while other items revert to a 2 percent rate after a temporary two year period ending July 1. Chris Vanden Berg a Boyden resident died Saturday June 22 at St Josephs hospital Sioux City after a week long illness from acute leukemia He was 46 He was born March 12 1911 in The Netherlands and came to America in 1930 He married Pearl Hare in 1933 and in later life worked in the B and B Repair Shop Survivors include his wife daughter Marydale son Anthony three sisters and a host of relatives The funeral was held Wednesday June 26 at the home and First Reformed Church Boyden with Rev Henri J Steunenberg officiating The church octet sang A Mighty Fortress Is Our God and Saved by Grace
