The Sheridan Capel Farm Bureau hosts a Wednesday picnic on June 19 with a Capel 2nd baseball team game, a Sheridan 2nd team game, a 12:00 basket dinner, a 1:00 concert and speech by County Agent George Dunlop, and a 3:30 match. Evening events include band concerts, plays, and athletic contests.
Hat Shop clearance sale announced as well as free refrigerator giveaway at Van Dyke. Various local visits and family news from Bigelow Hull Clear Lake Sheldon and LeMars. a baby ill at LeMars hospital and a fishing catch at Silver Lake are reported.
The Sheridan Capel Farm Bureau program and picnic are set for Tuesday June 19 at the Case Ver Hoef grove one mile west of Boyden. Events begin 10 a.m. with a full afternoon and evening schedule headlined by Prof. M A Hauser and Mrs Engelhardt. Music by the Boyden Community Band backs the event. All are welcome to attend.
The Boyden Chautauqua opened with Monday humidity and rain delaying tents. Shaw’s orchestra entertained and Paris spoke on Community Welfare and Selling at Par. Pietro wowed with piano accordion at 18, Lincoln Jubilee Singers performed, and A Pair of Sixes closed the run with Frazee speaking Turning Gloom Into Gold.
St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran to hold its annual Mission Festival on Sunday June 17 with English services at 10 am led by Rev H Beyer from Kimball and a 2 30 pm German service by Rev P Techlenburg of Corsica South Dakota and Rev H Beyer with an English 7 45 pm service Tecklenburg. An offering will be taken for the mission and all are invited.
The Boyden Iowa town council enacts a milk and dairy sale ordinance requiring TB and disease testing, annual herd examinations by Sept 1, barn cleanliness, and certified records to the town clerk. The measure, approved June 4 1923, ahead of enforcement once published. Rosanova to star in Just Around the Corner at Boyden June 20 with comedy.
