Decoration Day Observed With Fitting Memorial Program
The Memorial Day program was carried out with band music and a Memorial address by Rev. Harvey Travis of Sibley Iowa. Activities included a cemetery program by the Monster Post American Legion and a Gettysburg address by Adeline Verrips. Quiet Home Wedding in Orange City Couple to Live in Alcester
A pretty ceremony was held Monday afternoon May 28 at 4 o clock for Miss Cecelia Wiersma and W W Brower performed by Rev Van Wyk of the Second Christian Reformed church. Only immediate relatives attended. Kathryn Brower sang and then played Lehren grin's wedding march as the couple stood. Cecelia is daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Wiersma. Brower recently opened a cream station at Alcester South Dakota where he is engaged in produce. A 5 o'clock wedding dinner followed and the couple departed for their new home in Alcester.

Matlock All Nations beat Boyden Red Sox 8 to 6 last Sunday for their third straight win. Jay Benson hit a triple a double and a single while Roskam added a triple a double and two singles. Jess Coats pitched well with 17 strikeouts. Roskam, a standout fielder, made a circus catch.

Farmers Report Strong Plowing And Promising Crops Near Boyden
The writer and S G Vanden Brink toured two miles north of Boyden this week for the Boyden Chautauqua. Farmers were busy plowing corn and reported rapid growth from warm weather and rains. Small grain shows good color and progress, with prospects for another good crop in the area described as very favorable.
