Garrit Vink sues the Incorporated Town of Hull Iowa claiming discharge of sewage water onto his land near Hulls sewage plant renders land unusable and hazardous. He seeks 11600 in damages and says he may sue again to recover losses.

Mr. George Meerdink, Hull's longtime shoe repairman, sold his business to Mr. Gerrit De Leeuw. De Leeuw will take possession on June 15 and rename the shop Hull Shoe Service and Repair. De Leeuw has prior work as a cream hauler.

Living Memorial For John Droog Honored By Relatives

Relatives of 12 deceased Sioux County residents established Living memorials in the past year. Memorials fund the Iowa Division of the American Cancer Society for education and research to combat cancer, with wide usage to aid living families and ongoing projects. Hull native graduates from Air Force Academy

Lieutenant Donald L. Wolfswinkel, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burnie Wolfswinkel of Hull Iowa, graduated June 8 from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science and commissions as a second lieutenant in the Regular U.S. Air Force as an aerial navigator. He led as Cadet Squadron Commander and earlier captained the basketball team at the academy. His first assignment will be pilot training at Spence Air Base Georgia this summer.

Vacation Bible School Opens in Hull With 175 Enrolled

In Hull the daily Vacation Bible School began Monday with 175 children registered for sessions from 9:00 to 11:30 each morning through Friday. Classes meet at American Reformed and First Reformed Churches. Directors are Mrs. Delmer Kuper and Mrs. Wilbert Kleene, with assistants Mrs. Donald De Boer and Mrs. Louie Van Roekel. Twenty five teachers and helpers are listed.

Second Band Concert Scheduled For Saturday

The opening summer concert was held Saturday night June 4 at the Hull band stand. The second concert in the series is set for Saturday night June 11 at 8:00 p.m. featuring musicians from Boyden Hull High School Western Christian High and local residents under the direction of Mr T E Poulsom. Van Otterloo Family Receives Navy Citations

The Herman Van Otterloo family and relatives gathered at the Christian Reformed Church to hear the Norfolk memorial service record for Lt. Burdett Van Otterloo. Commander Keller of Sioux Falls presented a Navy citation and medal from the Secretary of the Navy for his outstanding service in the last mission in South America.

New Field Service Man At Co op Elevator Boyden

Francis W. Pieschl is introduced as the new Field Service Man for the Farmers Co-Operative Elevator in Boyden. A Kansas native, he is a Kansas State University graduate, a former Army Aviation veteran, and an ex veterinary student who will handle soil testing conservation advice and nutrition recommendations for stock at the elevator.

Hull Brownies Enjoy Outing On June 2nd

Browbie Troop 312 from Hull met at 8 30 in the Public School for a day trip to Sioux City Camp of the Hills in Stone Park. 27 Brownies joined leaders Mrs Bolks and Mrs Kuper with Sally De Koster as guide to Trails End and Bunny Hill Sleepy Hollow. Ice cream on return.

Lincoln and Sheridan Primary Vote Totals Report

Lincoln precinct recorded 431 ballots on Monday with 410 Republican and 21 Democratic. Sheridan precinct cast 173 ballots with 19 Republican and 14 Democratic. Key races include Fifth District Supervisor in Lincoln where Brands led with 496, Kuipers 359, Keele 130. Other countywide tallies list numerous candidates for state and federal offices.

Ruth Ringenoldus Bitten by Bees at Church Event

Miss Ruth Ringenoldus daughter of Rev Harold Ringenoldus was stung by a swarm while leaving the First Reformed Church Vacation Bible School. She suffered many stings on head and face and received prompt treatment. several children were also stung during the incident caused by boys throwing stones at the bees.

At the annual meeting of the Sunday School Teachers and Officers of the American Reformed Church in Hull plans were begun for the church and Sunday School picnic to be held in Hull Park on July 4. The event will start with a pot luck noon dinner followed by a program and sports in the afternoon.
