Rev Henri Steunenberg leads morning worship at 9 30. Afternoon service at 1 30. Sunday School at 3. Christian Endeavor meets at 7 30 in the evening.
The United Presbyterian Church lists services led by Pastor Rev Henry Bank. Sunday School at 9 45 A M Morning Worship at 11 A M Evening Worship at 7 30 P M.
St John Lutheran Church releases notice naming H J Knopfah as pastor. The congregation welcomes the appointment and invites members to attend services led by the new pastor.
John B Bernissee arrived home Friday evening and is enjoying a furlough at the John Slykhuis home and with relatives near Boyden. He must report to Camp Kilmore New Jersey by July 23.
Mr Arthur Miller remains about the same and Henry Van Veldhuizen a patient in the Veterans hospital in Sioux Falls is failing. Harlan Smid, son of Mr and Mrs Linus Smid, has been quite sick the past week with a high fever.
Mrs John D Lendhuis of Boyden announces the marriage of their daughter Eleanor to Willis Klienwolterink son of Mr and Mrs Connie Klienwolterink of Sanborn The wedding is set for Wednesday July 29 at 745 PM in the First Reformed church Boyden
Willing Workers met July 6 at Carolyn Van Diepen’s home with hostesses Carolyn and Glenda Vander Lee. They reviewed records and set July 30 as the deadline for materials to Mrs Linch. Judy Kimmel and Jannice Smit reported at the Ames convention.
Twenty five 4 H girls and three leaders accompanied by Mrs Phyllis J Alvord county home economist attended the Girl s 4 H Camp at Walther League Campsite at Lake Okiboji from July 8 to 11. Leaders included Mrs Ted Schimberg and Mrs Oscar Miller among others.
Iowa City scientists Wendle Kerr Robert G Carnel and L O Nolf explain chiggers or Trombicula irritans. The mite does not burrow but pierces skin to feed on blood, leaving irritation. It thrives in cool shady picnic areas and affects animals and people enjoying outdoor summers.
A 38 hour program for 100 Iowa peace officers at the University of Iowa covered education on alcoholism from the 11 D’s to post mortems. Dean W J Teeters illustrated poisons noting alcohol as the worst toxin and showed how blood alcohol levels affect life from minor impairment to death.
Ballots for the annual Production and Marketing Administration election were mailed July 10 to all eligible voters in Sioux County. Ed J Schmidt, chairman of the county PMA Committee, urged farmers to participate, noting ballots must be returned by July 24 to be counted at the county PMA office.
The Doorenbos family houses a farmstead with a kitchen dining panel serving as a quick service window and wall decor when closed. They struggle to finish landscaping around their new home while managing a large turkey operation. Jake tends about seventy flowering plants despite limited free time.
Voters must close by Friday afternoon or have ballots postmarked by July 24. Ballot counting begins Monday July 27 and results will be announced as soon as tabulations finish.
The Sioux County Farm Bureau Resolutions Committee met in Spencer to begin a nationwide policy effort. Attendees included Alvin Mulder Ed Moss Arnold Mem mers Lawrence Doorenbos John A. One hundred twenty one committee members from Northwest Iowa attended signaling strong interest in forming questions for farmers to vote on this fall.
Mr. Peter Kooiman of Redlands California was a caller at the home of Mrs Ed Diekev ers in a local incident.

Mr and Mrs Jim Ver Hoef of Sanborn enjoyed a picnic dinner Saturday evening in the Peter Herwynen home.
Charles H. Tye of Orange City Sioux County chairman reports Iowa reached 122 percent of its thrift bond quota. Sioux County exceeded its $283,549 target at 165.62 percent with total purchases of 469611 dollars, limited to series E and H bonds. Davis County led the state at 220.40 percent.
World War I veterans who served in the China Burma India theater will gather for a statewide reunion at Cobblestone Inn in Storm Lake. The Iowa basha of the CBI Veterans association planned the event with dinner at 1 PM followed by a program. Ed Cavanaugh and Darwin C. Carlile arranged activities, and more than 100 members attended a previous Amana meeting.
Mr and Mrs Gerhard Scholten of Boyden announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter Edna Jean to William R Kuiken son of Mr and Mrs J J Kuiken of Wilmette Illinois The wedding is planned for Sept 1 at the Reformed Church of Boyden Miss Scholten teaches vocal music in Ames public schools Mr Kuiken is a student at Iowa State College
Pvt. Martin Boer son of Mr. and Mrs. John Boer Boyden arrived in Japan to join the 24th Infantry Division. He is a rifleman in Company K of the 21st Infantry Regiment, previously trained at Indiantown Gap Pa. He worked for Dethmers Implement Company in Boyden before enlisting last December as the division continues intensive field training for security duties on the Japanese islands. The unit has been in Japan since early 1952 after rotations from Korea following 19 months of combat action.

Pvt Elmer Loges son of Mr and Mrs Herman Loges is now stationed in Korea. He has served seven months in the army and was previously stationed at Indiantown Gap Pennsylvania.
Mrs Ed Dickevers joined Mr and Mrs Vernon Ingalls of Sheldon for a Sunday dinner at the Elmer Kooiman residence in Edgerton Minnesota.
