Boyden council approves bonds and town improvements
Boyden Iowa council on May 5 1947 approved bonds for S J Smid and H G Auberg and scheduled town area work. They authorized a 24 by 60 concrete block addition to Farmers Co op produce building, extended a water line to Geo Dickevers, and planned plat and cost estimates for street repairs funded by a general bond issue.

Scouts Prepare Care Packages for Philippines Visit
Intermediate Girl Scouts plan to send a box to the Philippines. Four visitors joined the troop as crests arrived. Members will make scrapbooks and doll clothes. Joan earned two badges, Willma and Marjean earned one each. The Legion Show, sponsored by the American Legion, will be held in the schoolhouse Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Boyden Team Wins July 4 Softball Tournament
Boyden defeats Sheldon All Stars 7-1 in the first round and tops Hospers 4-8 in the final to claim the 4th of July softball tournament title. Tiedeman earned the victory and Kleinhesselink starved Hospers' rally as the winning purse of 17.50 went to the Boyden team amid a strong performance.
