Two auditors review the Farmers Cooperative Association and the Orders Cooperative Creamery in Boyden. Early figures show combined business exceeding two million dollars for the past year with reduced operating expenses and strong service to farmers. Full details to be published in the Reporter.
The sub county declamatory contest will be held at Boyden high auditorium on Wednesday January 29. Participating towns include Alton Haspers Newkirk and Boyden.
Two dogs attacked the Hog shed of John Oostenink northwest of Boyden killing two hogs and severely injuring many more. Oostenink heard the disturbance Sunday night and shot to stop the attack, killing both dogs. one was a large bulldog.
Boyden high school meets Rock Valley teams in a Friday January 24 doubleheader on the home floor followed by Hull visiting Boyden Monday January 27 in another big doubleheader. Boyden won the last meeting, Hull seeks revenge as the season nears its end.
A free tractor school will be held at Boyden Town Hall on Friday January 31 starting at 1 30 p m under the John Deere tractor people and Van derMaaten Sitter. The program is free and open to all. VanderMaaten Sitter display DP and D models while Rock Island machinery is en route.
The Boyden Reporter announces a special edition on February 18 1930 featuring the state’s finest cooperative associations. Interior and exterior photos will be shown along with stories about HOCULGS. Farmers and participants will receive copies. orders should be placed early.
The Hay den high school honor students were feted at a Citizenship club supper hosted by Mrs. H. A. Bolstad and others. Attendees included Thelma Diekeversa Willis Vander Kooi William Garzeman Auguste VanderHaar Cynthia Scnrender Raymond Smit Anna Stegeman Vernon Green George and Grace Van Diepen from the high school with Edna Koolman and George Diekevers from the School of Christian Instruction.
Residents and visitors from Minnesota and Iowa fill Holland Home and local towns. Updates include hospital exams for Rudolph Henning in Rochester and a Friday yol tre operation, with recovery noted. Names tied to visitors span Koeiman, De Boer, Brink, Scholten, Ver Hoeft, and others amid community life and upcoming local business changes like the Motor Inn gas pump installation.
The Citizenship Club members thank all merchants and others who contributed toward the Christmas Day festivities fostered by the club on the Saturday before Christmas. The cooperation of local merchants was very helpful. The Boyden Citizenship Club signs off with gratitude.
