The United Presbyterian Church announces Sabbath School begins at 10 00 A M Morning Worship at 11 00 A M and Evening Worship at 7 30 P M led by Pastor Rev Henry Bank services posted for weekly observance.
St John Lutheran announces New Year Eve services at 7 30 PM in German and 9 00 AM and 10 15 AM English on New Year Day with a Watch Night Party in the school basement after the Sylvester Eve service. On Sunday January 4 German service at 8 30, Sunday School at 9 30, Adult Bible Class at 9 40, English service at 10 45.
The Senior C E of Bethel Reformed Church Sheldon will sponsor a showing of the Christian film All That I Have at the Sheldon Community Building on Old Years Night December 31 at 8 PM. The public is invited.
John Veen of Sheldon receives a 17 jewel Lord Elgin wrist watch for leading oil sales in Northwest Iowa district at Archer Petroleum Convention in Omaha Nebraska. The district spans 12 counties and Veen is a noted flying farmer who markets extensive aircraft oil to air customers. Don Streit of Sheldon is district manager for the firm.
Local Christmas gatherings list guests from several towns visiting the Wm J Moret residence and nearby homes. Families named include Rons, Moret, Goodyear, Houtsma, Haze, Ml egar, and Dekker tied to Sheldon Hawarden and Sanborn events. The note records multiple households sharing festive meals and a birthday party for Mrs. Fannie Kooiman at Hawarden.

Representatives of 16 000 dairymen held talks with Northwest Iowa lawmakers on the Ole coloring issue and potential tax changes. They argued Ole should have distinct color and packaging to avoid confusion with butter, warning of economic impacts if dairying declines.
Mrs Kathryn Ruyter and Jane joined Mr and Mrs Hildred Dykstra and son Lyle and Mr Ben Koer Gelman for Christmas dinner at the John Van Ommern home in Alvord. Guests also celebrated Christmas evening at the Hilders home in George.
Mrs and Mr Daniel Van Dyke hosted guests in Melvin Minnesota and Hull visitors joined Bert Engelsman for Christmas dinner. Numerous families from Sheldon Archer Paullina and Primghar shared Christmas parties and dinners across the region with many relatives noted.
Mr and Mrs John Struyk celebrated a Golden wedding anniversary with a large family gathering last Friday. Their children and grandchildren attended including Harold F Juber Rutland Air Base New Mexico Rabull J Struyk Hope College Holland Mich Dennis W Struyk Augustana College Sioux Falls and Lilla J Juber Rock Valley plus relatives from Melvin Sanborn Sheldon Hull Hartley Ireton Sioux City Alton Ochevedan and Cedar Falls. On Monday Dec 29 they became great grandparents as Harvey E Juber and spouse welcomed a son in Melvin.

Mr and Mrs Dwight Vander Haar and family of Olivia Minnesota and Mr and Mrs Bill Rons visited the Vander Haar and Verrips families. Christmas dinners brought guests to Sheldon Archer Hospers Melvin Worthington Hull and Hull area homes including Kellen Smid Slykhuis and Blankers.
Multiple households in Sheldon, Maurice, Spirit Lake, and surrounding areas held Christmas dinners and gatherings. Attendees include the Van Gorp, Uittenbogaard, Moret, Van Roekel, Meyn, Scholten, Schreuder, and Riemers families, with visits from members in Sioux City, Harris, Gowrie, Des Moines, Chicago, and Lake Wilson.
