Grandma Schroeder Dies in Grundy Center at 76

Anna Marie Schlomer Schroeder, born January 29 1843 in Schleswig Holstein Germany, died in Grundy Center Iowa at age 76 after a life of service including Red Cross work. She married Hans Schroeder in 1863 and lived in Wheatland Britt and Britt area before moving to Grundy Center and later Britt. She leaves many children and grandchildren and was aged beloved by neighbors. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church with interment in Evergreen cemetery.

Farewell Social for Spijkerman Family at United Presbyterian

The United Presbyterian church honored Mr and Mrs Gerrit Spijkerman with a farewell social on Tuesday evening as they prepare to move to Pella next week. They served the church for nine years, aiding in church work and Sabbath school. Rev Karl Megdelsen praised their service and A A Kuyper presented a Bible from the congregation. Cake and coffee concluded the evening, and best wishes were sent for their new home.

United Presbyterian Church Notes Service and Meetings

Pastor Karl Megchelsen leads Sabbath School at 10 oclock with A A Kuyper as superintendent. Preaching at 11 am and 8 pm. Ladies Aid meets Friday at Mrs Karl Megchelsen for annual meeting and reports. Congregational prayer Thursday evening at the parsonage. all invited.

Social honors returned soldiers at Reformed Church

The Young People Society held a Social at the Reformed Church honoring the congregation's returned soldiers. Attendees enjoyed a pleasant evening and delicious cakes. The C DeVries family of Aurelia Iowa will move to the Vander Wel farm vacated by the Joe Kuyper family.

Moorman Places Second in Iowa State Contest

Paul Moorman, a butter maker at the Plainview creamery, earned second place with the second highest score in the state. The first place winner, the loyal man, led by only a half percent. The contest was held by the State College at Ames as reported by the Storm Lake Pilot Tribune.
