Local couples mark 41st and 25th wedding anniversaries

Mr. and Mrs. John A. Van Roekel hosted a Friday evening gathering for their 41st wedding anniversary on Feb 21 with children and grandchildren, a social, lunch, and gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Sitter celebrated their 25th anniversary on Feb 20 with a reception for about 80 relatives and friends at the Rev. Church Parlors, including a program, hymns, toasts, readings, and a catered lunch. One gift included two silvered trees loaded with silver dollars from neighbors.

Regular School Election Set for Boyden Iowa March 8 1948

Notice to Boyden Independent School District electors that a regular school election will be held March 8 1948 at Boyden Town Hall from noon to 7 pm. A three year director term will succeed Gerrit Slothauber and a two year treasurer term will succeed S G Vanden Brink. Arie Grooters and Ed J Schmidt contest Area No 1 director seat. The county board of education election affects superintendent selection textbook decisions district reorganization and rural transportation. Hospers Defeats Boyden In Sectional Tourney At Sheldon

Hospers bested Boyden 39 to 28 in a sectional semifinal at Sheldon. Boyden started strong but Hospers pulled ahead by halftime 16-10 and maintained the lead, aided by Wiese with 16 points. Rosexgboom was absent for Boyden due to illness as Maurice defeated Boyden 32-28 in the preceding game.

Obituary for John H Landhuis of Boyden Iowa

John H Landhuis born November 7 1868 in Netherlands died at 4 30 AM Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital Sheldon after a brief illness. He married Johanna Woertink August 81 1894 and had nine children. Funeral Feb 21 1948 at Reformed Church Boyden with interment in Boyden Cemetery attended by many relatives from multiple states.
