Real butter eggs and top ingredients go into Campbell's Capital Cakes. Mr. and Mrs. R. Kamminga visited Sioux City last Friday. Mrs. Margaret Lee Thompson died of heart trouble February 14 in Long Beach California. formerly of Boyden, she was well known locally.
Sheridan Township Farm Bureau hosts free tree pruning demonstrations next week Monday and Tuesday. Monday at 9 30 at W H Boelsma home and 1 30 at Geo Meyners home. Tuesday 9 30 at Gerrit Slothauber home and 1 30 at H J Peterson place. County Agent Geo Dunlop will lead demonstrations. Attend.
The Hansen sale Tuesday brought about 2850 with all items selling at strong prices. Milch cows brought 75 and 80 dollars, other livestock sold in proportion. Meylink and Wiersma acted as auctioneers while Paul T. McCrum and Steve Vanden Brink served as clerks. The Lutheran Aid Society of Sheldon sold candy popcorn cigars and earned a nice profit. The crowd was sizeable and bidding brisk.
Miss Effie Vander Veen and Mr. John E. Sitter wed Wednesday at eleven in Boyden church setting. Rev J M Lumkes officiated with a double ring ceremony. The couple will reside in the L Luzenga house and be at home after March 1.
Henry Smit, closing out his farm, will hold a sale south of Boyden on Wednesday February 28 starting at 6 PM He plans to quit farming and move to Sibley Iowa to work with his brother in law at Standard Oil More sale details are on the last page of the paper Attend the sale.
The Citizenship Club meets at Town Hall March 2 at 2 p m with an afternoon program including music a round table on Ship Subsidy district and state and federal courts discussion of 20th amendments and a roll call on parts of the Uniform Marriage and Divorce Bill Members are asked to practice songs 44 and 60 and all interested are invited to attend
The People's Co-Operative Store of Boyden held its annual shareholder meeting at Town Hall with about 50 to 60 attendees. Secretary Paul T. McCrum reported 1922 gross business of 65000 dollars and a net profit of 8725.80 dollars. shares rose to 19.14. The board was re-elected: Herman Luymes president, with Joe Stientjes, Herman Stegeman, John Grooters, and Peter Kruse. No dividend will be paid for 1922.
News reached here early in the week of the death of Mrs Dell Thayer at the home of her daughter in Venice California. She is sister-in-law of Mrs C B Work who has been living with her. The body will be shipped to Rock Valley with Mrs Work and will arrive Friday for interment in Rock Valley.
Friday evening a large turnout surprised Mr and Mrs Rehberg at home to mark their 30th wedding anniversary. Guests presented a fine rocking chair and served refreshments as the event concluded with warm best wishes from the Reporter.
Messrs Albert Grooters and Neal Koole attended the State Convention of the American Legion in Des Moines Iowa as delegates from the Monster Post of Boyden. The event featured a large program and several noted speakers including National Commander Owsley.
