Herman Dethmers, 14, died at his home Wednesday morning after a week of illness. Funeral services were held at 1 30 PM at the home and 2 PM at First Reformed Church with Rev Jom Lumkes officiating. Qualified electors are informed of the Indepen dent School District Boyden Iowa annual meeting at Town Hall on the second Monday in March 1926 from 1 to 6 PM A director and a treasurer will be elected for three and two year terms Nomination blanks must be filed by noon March 1 1926 Secretary Nie Rouwenhorst Anne Jake De Boer move lists also note jurors drawn for March term with 10 AM report March 15 including residents John De Haan Gertrude Dykstra Kreykes Arie John Sitters Willisia Stamper Andrew Vander Maaten W B Vander Kooi and Jake Westra.
Word came this morning that Mrs. Herman Harmelink died in the night after a months long illness. Besides her husband she leaves seven children named John Mrs. Gt. Van Stryland Mrs. Guy Vander Zyl of Newkirk Mrs. P. Mouw Josie at home and Mrs. Jake Hofmeyer Henman a Pella student who had just returned home. Funeral services were held Saturday at the home then at 1 30 at the First Reformed church OC Journal.
A public P T A gathering will be held Monday evening February 22 at the High School Auditorium. The American Legion and auxiliary will present a program in observance of Washington's Birthday, followed by a lunch. Families are asked to bring sandwiches for their own group. A large crowd is anticipated.
A Capel Fr B meeting was held at the Jim Ver Hoef home. Miss Dorothy Veldboom outlined work from the Ames Short Course and Mrs. George Reimers reported on the Orange City meeting. The group adjourned to meet at Mrs. Chris Reimers on Friday February 26 for a poultry talk. all Capel residents are invited.
The People's Co-Operative Store of Boyden held its annual meeting at the Boyden Town Hall with about 50 stockholders present. President H. J. Luymes opened the session, Manager Van Giessen reported 1925 business totaling 67 85.48 and a payout of 80 percent interest on capital stock was approved. The existing board was re-elected: H. J. Luymes, Joe Stientjes, Peter Kruse, Herman Stegemann, and John Grooters.
Lena Schreuder suffers a fractured arm from a fall during a written test Monday. The Boys Basketball team prepares for the tournament as Domestic Science class events loom Friday and Saturday. Marie Kruse was absent last week to attend a friend’s wedding. Sophomores are nicknamed the Unready Class for slow attendance. Juniors and Seniors write a fifteen hundred word oration for English. The Ionian Literary Society plans a program Friday afternoon February 19 with Lincoln and Washington quotations, Bertha Heittritter on February birthdays, Elva Conner piano solo, papers on Washington and Longfellow, Bellings reading, and songs by the society. Mr. Buntley will attend the National School Superintendent Convention in Washington next week, so music is scheduled Monday and Friday this week.
Ri Martin Rozenboom, 42, of near Melvin Iowa, died Sunday night at Samaritan hospital Sheldon after an appendicitis operation. He married Gertie Jansen and had one son and two daughters. Survived by his parents four brothers and one sister. sister Ella preceded him in death. Funeral at Sheldon Lutheran Church conducted by Rev Flentje with burial in Sheldon cemetery.
An operetta titled Lullaby Land will be performed under the Women's Citizenship Club at the Boyden Opera House on Sunday evening February 26. A large cast of local talent will present the musical and the Reporter notes a program printed elsewhere to read. Attend and enjoy this rare local entertainment.
