The People's Store announced the sale would run an extra week due to bad roads, closing Saturday February 19. The extended week aims to give more shoppers a chance to take advantage of bargains after a strong first week.
A Boyden street sale will be held Saturday February 26 at 1 30 P M. Van Zee and Rouwenhorst auctioneers organize the event and many items will be listed though not all can be advertised. The selling fee is 5 percent. See the advertisement elsewhere.
Iowa hosts the last Sioux Club from Sioux Center on the local floor this Thursday February 24. Council notes appoint Assessor William Moret to fill the Scholten vacancy but he declines. Henry C Meyn is named. John Vander Hout becomes Night Watch to replace Lampert Rens Jr.
Nan M Loffer seeks a decree of divorce from C L Loffer for cruel treatment. A farm partnership dispute over a timber loan and title involving Henry Terpestra and son is noted with an $8,000 sale and requested accounting. Debts and notes between G Van Pykeren and Roelof Kootker face attachment. Wills for B DeBondt and Henry Torwelle Sr set probate dates March 15 and March 14. Aliens and naturalizations listed with multiple names and locations. Several marriage licenses issued in Hull Orange City Boyden Rock Valley Sioux Center and nearby towns.
A large ceremony at the Henry Rikkers home in Hull united Miss Mathilda Van Pykeren and Mr. Peter De Jongh with Rev. Huissen and Rev. Douwstra officiating. The bride wore a splendid gown and impressed all with her charm while the groom, a son of local residents, is noted as ambitious and well liked. Relatives traveled long distances for the event.
Rev J M Lumkes preached in Nebraska on Sunday and Dr Wesselink of Central College occupied the pulpit at the local Reformed Church in his absence. Dr Wesselink was greeted by a large number at both services.
The annual shareholders meeting of the Farmers Co Operative Association was held February 11 at the Town Hall. President Henry De Groot presided. Albert Grooters read the report showing 1926 business totaling 879,662.29. The board of directors and officers were reelected. a special meeting on charter extension was set for February 28.
The Big Four Oil and Grease Co of Sheldon has leased the Robt. Moret gas and oil station at Matlock and will open for business soon. Mr. Moret, after building the station, has decided to take up farming.
The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Case Steenhoven died suddenly Wednesday morning after several days of bronchitis. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon. The Reporter extends its sympathy to the bereaved parents.
Sincere thanks to neighbors and friends who aided us during our child's illness and death. Mr and Mrs Case Steenhoven and children express gratitude for the support and kindness received.
Town of Boyden residents who own dogs must secure a town license by March 1 1927. Pay to Town Clerk. This license is in addition to county license. By order of L M Donal Mayor. We now have our Hatchery run man 6 2.
