The Boyden Co operative Creamery annual meeting at Town Hall heard a strong report and discussed rotating director terms. Balloting named C Vandranger and Peter Kruse for three-year posts, Henry Schloetje and H Kortekamp for two years, and Dick DeGroot for one year.
Two thieves forced front doors of local businesses and stole a small amount of change, while a nearby post office safe yielded a larger sum. Authorities suspect the incident may be the work of a bum gang as investigations begin. The annual meeting of Boyden Co operative Association is scheduled for February 16, 1988 at the Town Hall, inviting all stockholders and patrons.
The American Legion and Auxiliary met at Henry Bosman’s home Tuesday evening. They planned the county meeting to be held in Boyden in March and discussed the Safety Campaign and Health Program. Thomas F. Saunders, Ninth District Liberal Commander from Peterson, attended as a visitor.
Rev Brink calls on Mr Gerard Scholten who underwent surgery at Sheldon hospital. Pearl Scholten was a Sunday dinner guest at Vera Dethmers home. For sale a McCormick Binder and Pulverizer with two 16 inch plows by Wm H Winter. Rev Brink travelled to Sanborn Friday for church work. John L Kooiker studies auto electric trade at Dunwoody Industrial Institute Minneapolis in a six month program.
Mr and Mrs Ed Dickevers were callers Sunday in Rock Rapids according to local social notes highlighting residents visiting from neighboring areas.
Nick De Haas was a Sunday dinner guest in the Herman Meester home, sharing a meal and conversation in a quiet domestic visit.
Farmers Savings Bank of Boyden will not be open for business on Saturday February 12 due to a legal holiday.
Mr and Mrs N J Kooiker attended the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs John Hymans held in Hull last Saturday with family and friends.
City editors sent photographers and writers to Boyden after rumors of remarkable robberies. They found only pennies and post office stamps stolen, with a post office safe yielding about $3.50 in cash and $39.16 in stamps. Damaged doors cost more to repair than loot.
The Incorporated Town of Boyden Iowa passes a condolence resolution for Henry W. Pitstick former councilman and business associate. The measure expresses sympathy to his widow and relatives and directs publication in the Boyden Reporter and a copy to the widow. Mayor Paul T. McCrain and Town Clerk Steve Vanden Brink sign the resolution.

A public meeting will be held Monday evening at 7 30 at the Reformed church in Boyden. Dr F Zimmerman of New York City will deliver a talk on Greater Things. Special music is planned and the public is invited to attend.
Supt Lack outlined the milk program at the High School and Mr Ver Hoef advised on bottling costs. Wm Wargowsky spoke on pasteurization and the Creamery machine. The group decided to send a milk questionnaire to homes and report to their organizations on budgeting. Attendees included Mesdames Landhuis Luymes Dethmers, Vanderburg Roggen, and Messrs Ver Hoef Wargowsky Dethmers.
The Matlock program and basket social sponsored by the PTA will be held Friday evening February 11 at 8 o'clock in the Matlock School House. The event raises funds to purchase items for the school and all are welcome.
Mrs Vergil Smith entertained Tuesday afternoon with a bridge party. Guests included Mesdames Dethmers Lack Van Diepen Wargowsky Starkweather Meester and Schortinghuis.
Town Council met in the clerk’s office with Mayor McCrum presiding. They filled Pitstick’s vacancy with H I Bergman for the unexpired term, passed a death resolution, paid numerous bills, and accepted the January 1938 treasurer’s report. Donations of 47.19 for Christmas lights were acknowledged and light rates reduced effective February 1 1938.
Bert Nash battles his yearly cold yet completes the week’s newspaper type setting. He hopes for a full recovery by week’s end while continuing regular production duties.
A bake sale sponsored by the Junior Class will be held in the Vande Hoef Store Saturday afternoon beginning at 2 30.
