State fisheries biologists report lakes remain healthy with high oxygen levels despite low water and heavy ice. Good fish survival is expected if conditions stay stable as light reaches aquatic plants and maintains oxygen. Iowa rivers also show no appreciable fish loss.

Mrs. Henry Harman had surgery Monday at Sheldon hospital. Mrs. Nora Brown was moved to the State hospital in Iowa City for upcoming surgery. Mr. Robert Moret has been ill for several days.

The Capel Belles 4-H meeting on January 13 at the regular site was opened by President Norma Mogw. New member Jackie Menke joined, and Judy Muilenburg and Carol Bomgaars hosted color wheels, with Janet Mouw reporting on the skating party set for February 1 at the Sheldon Skating Rink.
Paul’s Store announces a two day grand opening Friday and Saturday February 5th and 6th featuring bargains and free prizes. The new Pauil’s Gateway Store will buy from a national wholesaler to offer a wide range at competitive prices with limited purchase sizes during the event. Visitors are urged to attend Saturday at 3 PM for a $25 prize drawing at participating Boyden businesses.
Maurice Mouw fractured his left wrist when a ladder collapsed at noon yesterday. He was taken to Joseph S hospital in City for treatment.
The Home Mission Circle of the First Reformed Church held a farewell handkerchief shower Thursday at their regular meeting to honor Mrs Gerrit Schnieder who will leave the circle March 1 as her family moves to a farm near Newkirk.
