Fairfield county dairyman Ray Wetherell reports 60 tons of fertilizer used last year and a fivefold pasture production increase after renovating a rundown permanent pasture. He recommends equal fertilization for pasture and crop land, and ties high quality hay and grazing management to his herd’s expected butterfat of over 400 pounds from 60 Jersey cows.
