Hull American Legion Auxiliary Met November 21

Hull American Legion Auxiliary Unit 380 met in the Legion Room on Monday evening November 21. The group heard a Boyden-Hull high school sextette under Mr. Rosenberger, with Ruth Wolfswinkel presiding. A district meeting report by Winnie Gunnink preceded decisions to donate $6 to the Tuberculosis Seal Fund and to send cheer packages.

Fire damages barn and straw at Boogerd farm near Hull

Hull Fire Department responded to a Saturday blaze at Walter Boogerd farm six miles north of Hull. About 300 bales of straw and a shed housing 30 cows were damaged. one cow escaped unharmed. Fire wrecked straw and half the shed, but insured loss was limited to the structure and contents.

Former Hull Man J H C Schoeneman Dies at 79

J H C Schoeneman 79 well known lumber dealer died Wednesday at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness. He led Schoeneman Bros Co with 12 yards and the Schoeneman Warburton Lumber Co of Sheldon Iowa. Survived by three daughters six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a brother. Funeral held in Hawarden Associated church. He was a member of several fraternal organizations.

At Hull the American Reformed Church held its annual meeting on Monday November 28 voting to have morning and evening services year round instead of the current eight months of evening services and four months of afternoon services. Boyden-Hull Drops Two Close Week Basketball Games

Boyden-Hull a team coach Norman van Sloten faced Granville 44 to 40 in a tight, foul heavy contest where Granville scored 24 points in the second half. Mazie: local star Roger Bernisse led the seconds with 12 points. In a separate close battle, Maurice Boyden-Hull fell 56-44 to Orange City as Dave Korver caught fire late and Allen Brouwer led with 23 points. The reserves also lost 42-32, with Roger Bernisse and Doug Smid top scorers. Next up Friday at Boyden against Floyd Valley.

Hull men Norman De Graaff Willard Van Wyhe and Wayne Zoerink bagged six deer on a hunting trip in Northeastern Wyoming. They left Hull on November 14 and returned two days later. The catch included white tailed deer including 4 and 5 point bucks and does.

Hall's New Colored Lights Brighten Hull Christmas Display

American Legion Post 272 Boy den will meet at 7 45 p m Monday at the Legion Hall for their regular meeting. Western Christian High teams defeated Pella Christian School teams on Friday November 25 with boys 56 to 26 and girls 42 to 27. On Tuesday November 29 Floyd Valley boys beat Western boys 58 46 and 36 25. Hull’s Christmas lights on Main street were installed and lit Tuesday night with extra bulbs stars and bells, thanks to the Hall Business and Professional Men and the Christmas Lighting Committee Sentner Altena and Wesley Iseminger. Iowa Public Service Company aided wiring.
