Fire Destroys Hay Barn Near Hospers Monday
A large hay and straw filled barn on George Kersten's farm three miles north of Hospers burned Monday as volunteers from five communities fought to save adjacent buildings. A cement block cattle shed was destroyed. farmhouse and other structures were kept under control. Combustion is suspected. fire seen about 2 p.m. No livestock in the barn. The building was insured. William Kersten of Sheldon is the owner’s father.

William Van Sloten 71 of Bellflower California died at home after a heart attack. Survived by wife and children, two brothers Lam bert Van Sloten Hull and John Van Sloten Doon, and five sisters.
