Wm Heemskerk age 71 years 9 months 20 days died Sunday after a lingering illness. Born in the Netherlands he came to the United States in 1904 and married Jacoba Van Leeuwen who died six years earlier. He moved to Boyden from Valley Springs South Dakota joining the local church March 25 1934. He leaves a son Sam Heemskerk a brother Lane Heemskerk of Hull four grandchildren one great grandchild and had two other brothers and a sister who preceded him in death.

On July 16 at 1200 feet William Geurink and John Ver Hoef rode in an airplane from Vander Kerk Flying Service in Sioux Center. They viewed the Pioneer Home and flew over Sioux Center and Orange City at 85 mph with Miss Gertrude Haitink aboard. Geurink urged Ver Hoef to take the first ride.
