Mrs Harold Kuyper arrived home Monday from Parks Air Base California for a two week visit with her parents while her husband Harold Kuyper is transferred to Wichita Falls Texas Air Base where he will join her after the move.
Mrs. Henry Auberg Sr. of San Diego arrives in Heron Lake Minnesota for an indefinite visit with the Lester Gaugert family. Henry Auberg Jr. and family and Richard Auberg accompany her.

Daryl Grooters son of Mr and Mrs L V Grooters suffered a severe finger cut this past week while playing with a wagon at the Grooters home. He was rushed to Sheldon for first aid.
Mrs Maggie Verrips is critically ill at her home. Mrs Jack Mieras is expected home this week from the Methodist hospital in Sioux City. Mrs Jerry De Raad is on the sick list at home for several weeks. Mr Lloyd Goodyear, under treatment for several weeks in the Methodist hospital in Sioux City, is expected home this week.

The American Legion Auxiliary met with Mrs. Henry Van Velzen Tuesday afternoon to sew carpet rags and pack 20 dozen cookies for Knoxville Iowa Veterans Hospital. A luncheon was served by Mrs. Van Velzen and two other members at the close.
Pvt and Mrs Earl L Kosters welcome their first child Rhonda Erlynn born Sunday April 19 at Sheldon hospital. The baby weighs 8 pounds 4 1/2 ounces. Pvt Kosters serves with the army in Korea. The mother is the former Norma Horn.
Kenneth Leroy Olsen's fourth birthday was celebrated Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Olsen. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Belling of Sheldon and Miss Wilmina Kleyne.
Mrs Ed Diekevers hosted a monthly birthday dinner Sunday at her home honoring Mrs Walte Diekevers and Eddie Diekevers on their birthdays. Guests from Sheldon included Mr and Mrs Harold Diekeverg and son Mr and Mrs Vernon Ingalls and Loren. Also present were Mr and Mrs Elmer Kooi man Jake and Patsy Edgerton and Hull residents Mr and Mrs Marvin Diekevers and Paula Walter Diekevers Eddie Mr and Mrs Adrian Diekevers Artie Annetta Mrs John Humme and Mr and Mrs George Diekevers.
Mrs. Wm Kwikkel entertained Friday evening for her husband’s birthday. Guests included Mr and Mrs John Bergsma and daughter Mr and Mrs Bas Dekker of Sheldon and Mr and Mrs Len Vander Hoeven. A social hour followed by luncheon was served.

The Bridge Club met at Mrs. Jake Van Diepen’s home on Wednesday evening. A dessert luncheon followed the games and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Fred Stark, Mr. Wm Meyn, and Mrs. Art Roggen.
Boyden and surrounding districts announce art and poetry winners across grades. Notable honorees include Eddie Baartman and Marie Vagts recognized in multiple divisions, with several students from Boyden and Orange City public schools earning superior and excellent ratings.
A string of Sunday and weekday visits spans Sioux Center Sheldon Archer Lemars and nearby towns. Families including Baartmans Thomassens Barentses and many others share meals and host guests from Sheldon Maurice Sioux Falls and Sioux City plus hospital calls and local social visits.
A T 8 Lloyd Rensink of Whidbey Island is on a 30 day leave at home with his parents Mr and Mrs Sylvester Renisni and other friends and relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Van Velzen of Boyden announce the engagement of their daughter Joan to Laurence Tifft, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tifft of Sanborn. No date for the wedding. Joan works at the Drs Griffin Myers and Voorhes office in Sheldon. Laurence works on his father’s farm.
The spring sectional baseball tournament at Ashton runs April 30 to May 6. Seeded pairings place Hull versus a bye and Boyden versus a bye on Monday May 4 at 2 00 PM. Other matchups include Melvin versus Ashton Thursday at 3 30 PM and Hull Western versus George Thursday at 2 00 PM with finals on Wednesday at 3 30 PM.
A bake sale is planned for Saturday afternoon April 25 at Tony's General Store Mosse. Proceeds support community programs. Local volunteers organize the fund raising event with signups at the store.
The Legion Auxiliary sponsored a two class poster contest with judges Mrs. Wm. Meyn and Mrs. Jake Van Diepen. Class 1 winners Bonnie Vagts and Joel Kuyper earned 2.50 and 1.00 respectively, with Elaine Vande Gaarde and Phyllis Siderius also placing. Class 2 winners Ruth Jacobsma and Joan Heemskirk won 2.50 and 1.00, with Ardyce Boelsma and Harriet Landhuis placing. First prize posters advance to district judging. others will be displayed in store windows before Memorial Day.
Norvan Roggen son of Mr and Mrs Art Roggen of Boyden is the newly elected President of the Student Government at the University of South Dakota. He is a former Boyden Reporter staff member and serves as editor of the college paper.
The Sheridan township trustees met Saturday afternoon with Henry Bosman Gerrit Slothouber Sr and Peter Kruse present. Residents received a report on local matters and discussed township affairs. Mrs Gerrit Alons expressed thanks for support during illness.
