Al Nelson of Hawarden Cleaning Works a former Navy man is named Civilian Co-ordinator for the U S Navy in Sioux county. Draft eligible youths and high school graduates should contact Co-ordinator Notson at Hawarden. Notson served 24 months in the Navy during the last war.
Don Paulson in Australia features Donald Paulson, Sheldon Infan try man, among Iocky sailors aboard a transport with Yanks landing. Don and his brother Wally Paulson of Sheldon are sons of the late August Paulson, with Don shown at the rail as comrades descend the gang plank.
Dr H R Cochran Sheldon dentist receives call to duty as captain in the U S Army dentist corps. He will report in Vancouver Washington on Thursday April 30 for the duration. He will run his Sheldon office with Dr F E Warren Alton taking charge after April 27.
Farmers joining the Farm Bureau Wool pool will receive 42 cents per pound for medium wool. A single pool will be held at the Boyden Co-Operative Association on May 4 from 7 30 a m to 4 30 p m.
Sioux County will continue its road program with 28 miles of graveling and 15 miles of grading planned for 1942. Superintendent John Dykstra says bids set before April 10 allowed progress despite misreports of cancellation. Private contractors have been hired to accelerate work using county pits for gravel.
Reverend J W Brink attended the board of trustees meeting for N W Junior College in Orange City on Tuesday and Wednesday outlining upcoming decisions and campus governance.

Also notes sugar rationing explained and an affidavit dilemma for a local dairy trucker over tire use and butter transport rules.
Iowa will limit sugar access to those with under six pounds per person. Registration to obtain War Ration Book One runs May 4–7 in all elementary schools. Sugar sales halt April 27 and resume around May 5 under the OPA system. Those with two to six pounds have stamps removed at registration, one stamp per excess pound, with books detailing purchase limits.
