The Boyden Commercial Club was organized Tuesday evening at the Lumber yard offices with a plan for a membership drive. Henry Kooy was elected president, Steve VandenBrink treasurer, and Willis G. Vanderburg secretary. A band sponsorship was discussed for future consideration at the next meeting, also at the same location, starting eight o'clock. People are invited.
The Palmer House exclusive chef M Ernest Amiet is pictured on page 215 of the Saturday Evening Post April 11 in connection with a famous marshmallow advertisement. He is brother in law to local postmaster H W Pitstick and a former chef of Continental hotels. The ad is visible in two display windows of the Reporters office.

Christian Endeavor Society presents an Easter cantata at 7 30 p m April 20 at First Reformed Church of Boyden. The program includes hymns scripture readings prayers soloists and a living Christ theme with choir and various vocal numbers. Local residents Edna Griffath Sadie Wiersma and families are mentioned along with weekend visitors to the G P Kooiman and A E Brunsting homes.

J W Hofmeyer Sr died at his daughter Mrs Herman Jacobs in Boyden on April 14 age 80 years 7 months His wife died March 9 age 80 years 10 months Funeral services were held Saturday They came to America 48 years ago They leave three children Mrs Herman Jacobs J W Hofmeyer Jr of Orange City and Mrs A Slickers of Grundy Center The couple married almost 57 years
