State highway commission crews started work Monday on primary roads with three new motor maintainers assigned to Routes 10 22 and 19. The machines travel a full round trip covering the surface faster and more territory than horse drawn units according to the Alton Democrat.
Sioux Center asked the Sioux County Board to pave about one and a half miles of the K U trail through Sioux Center, costing an estimated 40 000 to 590 000. The board rejected the request but may face higher authority State Highway Department action to determine if Sioux Center gets pavement and limited county road work for the next two years.
The Iowa state automobile department announces a 1927 numbering plan. Counties with 10 000 or more cars switch to letter prefixes from A to L excluding T Polk county uses A and other 10 000 class counties follow by car count. Suffixes avoid S to prevent confusion with 1. The piece also notes a Farm Bureau program at Town Hall featuring music readings and a one act comedy.
