Pastor Henri Steunenberg leads morning worship at 9 30 A M and afternoon service at 1 30 P M Sunday School begins at 3 P M and Christian Endeavor meets at 7 30 P M at the church.
Rev Henry Bank leads the United Presbyterian Church service lineup with Sunday School at 9 45 a m morning worship at 11 a m and evening worship at 7 30 p m all listed for the church calendar.
St John Lutheran Church announces German service at 8 30 A M Sunday School 9 30 A M Adult Bible Class 9 40 A M English service 10 45 A M led by Pastor H J Knoploh.

Mrs. Donald SDunnick undergoes surgery Thursday evening at Sacred Hearts hospital Le Mars and is recovering as well as can be expected. Mr. Lloyd Goodyear is under treatment at the Methodist hospital Sioux City.
Mrs Gerrit Uittenbogaard entertained Wednesday evening in honor of her birthday. Guests included Mr and Mrs Gerard Brower and family Sheldon. Mr and Mrs Donald Brower and Denny. Mr and Mrs Henry Reuvers and Willis Uittenbogaard family. Mr and Mrs Evert Reuvers Primghar. Mr and Mrs Marion Menning Newkirk and family. Mr Junior Reuvers. Mr and Mrs Edward Uittenbogaard and Harlan. Mr and Mrs Art Uittenbogaard and family. and Mr and Mrs Marion Moret and children. A social evening followed by a two course lunch.
Marlowe and Ronald Westra were honored at a Sunday evening gathering hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Westra. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Howard Van Kekerix Jackie and Mrs. Sam Van Kekerix Martha Mae Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Verrips Albert Van Gorp Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Westra Mr. and Mrs. Jake Westra Mrs. Daryl Dammann and Shieldon family. The occasion featured social visiting and a birthday luncheon.
Thirty four members from five area co-ops rode a bus on March 19 for a four day tour of jointly owned cooperative facilities in Kansas City Missouri and nearby towns. First stop Coffeville Kansas showcased the world’s largest cooperative refinery and a lubricating oil plant. next in Kansas City they toured a grease factory paint factory and Golden Rule Test Kitchen and met with Howard A. Cowden CCA president. Participants included Warmers Mutual Co op Alton Farmers Co op Oil Assn Boyden Orange City Community Oil Rock Valley Hull Co op Gas and Oil Assn with Jack Faber leading the tour. The group returned February 20.
Mr and Mrs Leonard Rensink announce the engagement of their daughter Anona Alice to Frank M Elliott of West Branch Iowa son of Mr and Mrs W D Elliott of Edinburgh Texas A summer wedding is planned.
Mit Thomas Green Northwest Regional Supervisor from the Department of Public Instruction Des Moines visited Boyden School on Tuesday. The visit focused on school facilities and attendance considerations.
There will be no classes at Boyden Public School on Friday April 3 in observance of Good Friday. The absence affects all grades and activities scheduled for that day.
Misses Kay and Myra Magstadt of Parkston South Dakota spent Sunday afternoon in the Wm Vagts home.
Boyden High School students earned six one ratings at the pre state music contest in Sheldon. Janice Smit won ones for both her medium treble voice solo and piano solo. Marjorie Vermeer and Darlene De Boer scored ones in high treble solos. Marilyn Kammlade’s flute solo also won one, with the flute quartet achieving one as well. Glenda Koerselman’s baritone horn solo and four vocal groups earned two ratings. A trio, the medium voice solo by Dorothea De Boer, the girls quartet, and the sextette led by Othy De Boer received mixed ratings. All fourteen Boyden entries were rated. The state contest will be held August 24 and 25 at Perry, Iowa, with Mrs. Blemmaster and accompanists Arlyne Kruse and Phyllis Steunenberg joining the group.
In Dallas County thirteen people were injured in auto crashes over a weekend. In Boone County Charles Goodrich, age 85, teaches Sunday school at Luther Methodist Church since 1906. A falling tree killed George Wall, 45, in Calhoun County as he worked to avoid a power line. Arthur’s J A Carlson helped build Woods Bros. first corn picker in 1909. Near Hampton Mrs Donald Patton’s car plunged into Squaw Creek. Marvin Karr freed her from the ice.
Fire destroyed nearly 1000 turkeys and the Doorenbos farm when oily burners overflowed Monday morning. The Boyden Fire Department arrived but could only prevent spread to nearby buildings and the grove. Owners Mr and Mrs Jake Doorenbos were away.
Numerous families from Spencer Sioux Center Sheldon Hull Sanborn Orange City and Paullia visit in homes of relatives and friends. Notable mentions include Mr and Mrs Lawrence Haze Dean in Spencer and Mr and Mrs Glen Salmon in the Larry Salmon home. Senior high boys attend state finals in Iowa City.
