Palmer Nerem Chevrolet to unveil the 1957 Chevrolet lineup Friday October 19 with two new models on view. Dealers promote RAMJET fuel injection Turboglide and Corvette V8 options plus wide engine and transmission choices for a range of Bel Air Nomad and Corvette styles.
Mrs Ralph White was injured but not seriously when her car overturned in a ditch after hitting loose gravel near the Omer Davis farm northwest of Renwick. High winds and dust blinded her. she was treated at Dr Sut ton's Renwick office and later at Belwond hospital for cuts bruises and scratches.
Fritz Britt of Renwick was reelected president of the Iowa Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society for 1957 at Ottumwa. Mrs John Stevenson and grand daughter Jackie Stevenson of Goldfield joined Britt on the final Iowa steam powered passenger train excursion between Ottumwa and Indianola, taken Saturday evening.
October events include a football game with Dows on the 19th and Gilmore City on the 26th. Club meetings cover Renwick Woran's on the 25th, 8TV Club also on the 25th, and Ammann-VULUBEH 2-Fortnightly Club meeting cancelled. On October 26 the Hi Neighbor Club hosts Mrs Roger McCormick.
Renwick's annual drive to back Prairie Gold Council Scout and Cub activities runs Wednesday October 24 with about 20 volunteers. A kickoff meeting is planned for 7 30 p m Tuesday to prepare. Thomas Gimer chairs the community effort aiming to meet a Fair Share goal of 165. Residents are urged to contribute to support the 1957 council program.
A community reception honored local teachers on October 11 at 8 00 pm in the school auditorium. Jink Kleen led the program with Mrs Redfield guiding group singing. Adelle Jensen played a cornet solo, Mrs Wittmer accompanied a saw performance, Miss Oliver sang, and a quartet sang Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho. Tea served afterward by ministers wives, including Mrs Brandt and Mrs Biesemeyer.
The Izaak Walton League purchased four new all stainless steel curved slides and a combination play set for the picnic grounds. Proceeds from a August dance at the Farmers Co op building funded the equipment.
Boone Valley Bobcats dominate Thompson in a non conference clash 31 to 6. Roger Siemens quarterback sneak and passes set up multiple scores while Jim Westfall Merrill Nerem and Donnie Kraft add key plays. Bobcats secure three more games as Ventura tops Twin Rivers and Gilmore City downs Dows.
Renwick will interconnect with Boone Valley Electric Co-op starting January 1 1957. Staking begins October 23 for initial work toward a six mile line from Boone Valley Substation to Renwick. town buys 600000 kws annually for five years and pays construction costs mainly 312000 for the line plus another feeder.
Lake Lutheran Church Luther Leaguers volunteer to sell services as helpers for a day or part of a day this Saturday and the next six Saturdays. Rates are 50 cents per hour for high school age participants. proceeds fund attendance at the International League Convention in Missoula Montana next summer. The Krause family reunion was held Sunday at LuVerne City Hall with 45 attendees from Algona Bancroft Lu Verne Goldfield Hardy Renwick Britt Carwith and Enterprise Ore.
Renwick Public Library adds many new titles across adult juvenile and children sections. Notable entries include World Almanac 1956 Margaret Truman story Song Of America The Truth About Cancer and The Pee Wee Reese Story along with several nature adventures mysteries and early reader volumes.
