The Boone Valley High School band directed by W Keith Maessler will perform Friday evening March 15 at 8 in the high school auditorium. It is the band’s third appearance of the season, now with 59 pieces, featuring Nutcracker Suite Ballet Parisian and a new composition On The Esplanade.

Humboldt County tuberculosis program aims to screen contacts with mobile X-ray units on March 28. Public health nurse LaVonne Kreutzkampf has interviewed potential exposures, offering chest X rays to those with positive tuberculin tests. Program funded partly by Christmas Seals.
The Boone Valley Junior High boys won their first tourney game beating LaVerne 38 23 with Dean Neuberger scoring 12 and Ed Hebner 10. Goldfield girls beat Bradgate 23 15 and Goldfield boys topped Ottosen 33 26. Boone Valley girls fell to LaVerne 25 19 as Gloria Nerem led with 11 in a close fourth quarter. Lyle Kitley and Clifford Skiye were elected to three year terms on the Boone Valley School Board amid a 60 vote count.
Mina Hunter 77 of Newell mother of Mrs Walter Attig of Renwick escaped serious injury in a Friday car accident near Humboldt. Driving on highway 3 about a mile west of Humboldt she lost control on ice and snow, the vehicle veered into a ditch and rolled down a 70 foot embankment, landing on river ice. She was thrown from the car and sustained only severe head cuts.

Vernon Up and Atom 4 H Club met at Colleen McGawain’s home for February with all members present along with two leaders and two mothers. Carolyn Larson spoke on apron material selection while Ruth Larson demonstrated a flat apron and Shirley Kissinger showed turning and stitching. Margene Merkle spoke on a gathered apron with a band and Leone Rummens presented an alteration on various sew finishes. The club prepared Kenneth Luchsinger farm sale and produced SGR.02 Reporten, Shirley Kissinger.
Emma Kubly turned 72 with a Thursday afternoon party hosted by Mrs Peter Ruberg Mrs Jane Kubly and Mrs Lester Smith. Guests included Mrs Darrell Matteson Mrs Fritz Britt Mrs Charles Burk and others as well as family members visiting and dining in nearby homes.
Des Moines reports 33 Iowa schools earned Certificates of Honor in the 20th Annual School Press Project conducted by tuberculosis associations. Nine papers advanced to national judging, including Linn Grove Redfield Patton Fonda Des Moines Ames Ottumwa Waterloo Lost Nation. The listing includes Keystone Waterloo Janesville Waverly Newell Carroll Mason City Garden Grove and several others. The51st Farmers Cooperative dinner will be held March 20 at 6 30 at the Renwick building with dinner served by the Music Boosters Association.
Allen Biesemeyer son of Rev and Mrs Roy Biesemeyer of Renwick earns a role in Morning side College Sioux City spring theater production Lady Precious Stream. The sophomore Pre-Law major appeared after auditioning with others for the part set for May 1 2 3 and 4.
The BIW Club held its annual Husband's dinner on Thursday evening March 7 in the school lunch room with 43 attendees. Mrs Alfred Kleen served as program chairman and introduced Mr and Mrs R E McGowan who discussed their trip to Mexico and showed color slides. Hostesses included Mrs Frank Engstrom Mrs Emery Engh Mrs Bert Siemens Mrs Omer Davis Mrs Bert Martin and Mrs Reaymond Paine.
The St Paul Lutheran Ladies Aid met Wednesday afternoon at the church with Mrs Raymond Paine leading on the topic Bless This House. Mrs Lloyd Jensen sang a solo of the same title as 19 attendees enjoyed lunch served by Mrs Howard Larson. Several social visits followed, including travels to Des Moines for a Lumbermen's Convention and various family visits in Clear Lake and Fort Dodge, with continued local hospitality and weekend hosting among neighbors.
The Belles of Boone 4-H Club met Saturday March 2 at the clubhouse. Roxie White demonstrated selecting a pattern Linda Huntley showed transferring pattern markings Stay stitching and pin basting were explained by Sheila Kepper and Diane Clowes Linda Huntley was elected to go to convention and is county officer candidate Janet Martin and Judy Henriksen were chosen to attend district camp with Sharon Hoffman as alternate A large roll call of 18 members and two leaders followed a lunch by Anne Nairn and Janet Martin. Reports include visits from local residents and various social gatherings among club members and families.
