Mrs Clyde Mills aged 68 died late Wednesday afternoon from a heart attack shortly after returning from a Ladies Aid meeting. She was pronounced dead at home and funeral arrangements will be announced.

The Renwick fire department will meet for practice Friday night June 13. All members are urged to be present.
Miss Phyllis Lane graduated Saturday from a two year teaching program at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She will teach first grade at Humboldt this fall. Mrs. C. J. Lane of Ames and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lane attended the commencement.
Erling Nerem returned home to Sandy after a week at Boys State in Camp Dodge Des Moines. About 720 boys attended. he was elected district court judge and joined football swimming chorus singing with 48 voices. WHO radio recorded three numbers from the chorus for the Legion hour.
The second summer band concert is set for Wednesday night June 18 at Town Park. The performance begins promptly at eight o'clock and promises a fine program for attendees.
Carroll Block graduates from State University of Iowa at Tews City on Friday June 6 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and ROTC first lieutenant rating. Parents Mr and Mrs Claus Block attend the commencement.
Red Cross sponsors six week Friday morning swimming lessons starting June 20 at Eagle Grove pool. Classes cover beginners to advanced with four levels plus junior and senior life saving. bus transport from Renwick Times office at 8 45 am. return by 11 30 am. Season tickets sold at pool. prices 3.00 to 12.00 with daily rates available.
Districts 46 and 99 of the Rebekah Lodge gathered at the Renwick schoolhouse on Tuesday for their annual convention with 175 members registered. Des Moines leaders Hallie Potneckar and Mary Hitchcock, along with West Bend’s Iva Hansen, attended. officer elections named Bess Blomker of Humboldt as president and Lucille Junkman of Bradgate as vice president. Delights included a Baptist Ladies Aid dinner and a program of piano duets, tap numbers, and a vocal solo, with funds to the LOOF Home in Mason City. Next year’s convention will be in Humboldt with Bradgate as assistant host.
Lt Col Ernest Pogge, son of Mr and Mrs Wo Pogge of Renwick, received the senior military prize on Governor's Day at the University of Washington Seattle. Pogge, a junior in civil engineering with a 3.9 GPA, served as executive officer for Governors Day and commanded the ROT C parade. He is a Distinguished Military Student and member of Scabbard and Blade Tau Beta Pi.
Lutheran Brotherhoods in the area form a softball league. Games will be played at Thor. The Lake Lutheran Brothers were defeated last week by the Trinity team. Lake will play Thor this Thursday evening at Thor.
The game with Sheffield last Sunday was postponed due to rain. Renwick will host Goldfield Sunday afternoon June 15 at Vernon athletic field, a two good game and attendance is welcome by the players.
Vernon Boosters boys 23 Club Reid lead the Vernon 4 H group on their annual tour Thursday with a picnic dinner at Smith Park.
Virginia Branse will fetch arrows this fall, reversing last week's note that Cylinder’s star ed. The change appears in a corrected item from the same source, updating the planned assignment and timelines.
Thirty eight boys and girls attend ict camp at Clear Lake starting June 1 with about 200 participants from 12 counties. Activities include crafts leather, sign making, swimming, boating, photography, and radio work. Vernon club members attend: Darlene Zweifel, Mary Birnbaumer, Don Philipp, Arnold Wigans. Rally Day at Humboldt High School draws 350 attendees with 4-H officers elected Patty Edge president and others. 13 girls enter county officer contest. Fifteen 4-H girls and two committee members to attend the 23rd state 4-H girls convention June 18-21 at Ames Town State College. Patty Olsen is Vernon club delegate.
About 155 alumni and guests attended the Renwick School Gymnasium banquet on Friday night June 6. Carl Martin welcomed the Class of 1952 as Supt W P Witmer honored three generations of graduates now in the alumni association. Officers were elected: President Mrs Gayle Beckerdite, VP Dr G Lo Arne, corresponding secretary Mrs Helen Swenson, recording secretary Mrs Cleone Ervin, treasurer Robert Lane.
In the May issue of the Dodge Messenger a feature on Rady Amosson’s horse nursery details breeding by two stallions Sesitle Dean and Prince Richard acquired from Dr. D B Rice of Centex Taras. Amosson operates three miles south of Reewick on highway 602, caring for mares and growing a line of colts amid renewed interest in harness racing.
The American Legion Auxiliary will hold its regular meeting this Thursday night at 8 o clock at the Legion Hall. Elections will be held for officers.
The Renwick band members and twirlers along with Supt and Mrs W F Wittmer and Mr and Mrs WL Beessler and Mr and Mrs Donald McGowan were entertained at dinner Monday evening in the school Jesch room. The Band Boosters served the dinner.
Mr and Mrs Bert Martin and Mr and Mrs Glen Marcin attended the Ames cattle feeder day on June 3. Also present were Mrs Fred Gugisbure Mr Norman Peer Mr and Mrs Dale Cole Edward Oppedshl Robert Oppedshl and Floyd Lane.
