Mrs Clyde Mills Dies After Heart Attack

Mrs Clyde Mills aged 68 died late Wednesday afternoon from a heart attack shortly after returning from a Ladies Aid meeting. She was pronounced dead at home and funeral arrangements will be announced.

Nerem Attends Boys State at Camp Dodge Des Moines

Erling Nerem returned home to Sandy after a week at Boys State in Camp Dodge Des Moines. About 720 boys attended. he was elected district court judge and joined football swimming chorus singing with 48 voices. WHO radio recorded three numbers from the chorus for the Legion hour.

Rebekah Lodge Convention Held in Renwick

Districts 46 and 99 of the Rebekah Lodge gathered at the Renwick schoolhouse on Tuesday for their annual convention with 175 members registered. Des Moines leaders Hallie Potneckar and Mary Hitchcock, along with West Bend’s Iva Hansen, attended. officer elections named Bess Blomker of Humboldt as president and Lucille Junkman of Bradgate as vice president. Delights included a Baptist Ladies Aid dinner and a program of piano duets, tap numbers, and a vocal solo, with funds to the LOOF Home in Mason City. Next year’s convention will be in Humboldt with Bradgate as assistant host.

Outstanding ROTC student at University of Washington honored

Lt Col Ernest Pogge, son of Mr and Mrs Wo Pogge of Renwick, received the senior military prize on Governor's Day at the University of Washington Seattle. Pogge, a junior in civil engineering with a 3.9 GPA, served as executive officer for Governors Day and commanded the ROT C parade. He is a Distinguished Military Student and member of Scabbard and Blade Tau Beta Pi.

Rally Day at Humboldt High School draws 350 attendees with 4-H officers elected Patty Edge president and others. 13 girls enter county officer contest. About 155 alumni and guests attended the Renwick School Gymnasium banquet on Friday night June 6. Carl Martin welcomed the Class of 1952 as Supt W P Witmer honored three generations of graduates now in the alumni association. Officers were elected: President Mrs Gayle Beckerdite, VP Dr G Lo Arne, corresponding secretary Mrs Helen Swenson, recording secretary Mrs Cleone Ervin, treasurer Robert Lane.
