Burt farmer Wayne Keith, who toured Europe with the Farm Bureau, will speak at the Sens Community Club Monday night January 12. He will share first hand impressions on conditions in Western Europe, show pictures, and discuss topics of broad interest. The dinner for members is at 7:00 p.m. served by the Amvets Auxiliary.
Renwick Scarlet Raiders hosted Corwith Tuesday night with both boys and girls earning wins. The girls led 18 1 at halftime and finished 35 12, while the Renwick boys edged Corwith 29 27 in a tight, hard fought game. The teams head to Verne for James Friday and prepare for the Linke Nine Tournament next week.
The Amvets Auxiliary will meet Friday afternoon for their regular monthly gathering.
A Tile Council of America report shows Humboldt County farm properties valued at over 340 million dollars. Rural homes across Iowa and the North Central states now feature electric lights, running water, and private baths at rising rates since 1940, with substantial gains in home condition and modern conveniences.
Henry Bloom Sr. sustained painful injuries Thursday evening when struck by a car driven by Dick Elmer while returning from dairy milk. He was helped by Rev C Blumhagen and Dick Hetty, taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge via Beenen ambulance, with a badly broken leg and severe shock. Community wishes him a speedy recovery.
The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary plan their regular monthly meeting tonight. Members are urged to attend and discuss post activities and upcoming events.
Omen H Nervig a long time Humboldt county resident died at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge after a December 1 hospital stay. Survived by wife three daughters Inma Nervig Erhei Nervig of Hatfield Mo and Mrs Mildred Yocum and son Orville of Hardy. Funeral services were held January 5 at Trinity Lutheran church Lake Township with Rev T B Thorson officiating.
Amvets Post No 43 will hold a stag party on Monday evening January 19 starting at p.m. at the Amvets Hall. Public invitation extended as plans for a big evening are under way.
The adult sewing classes will resume at the school house Thursday evening at p.m. in the lunch room. The next meeting is Thursday night January 13 at the same time and place.

Members of Biasonic Lodge and Eastern Stars enjoyed a joint potluck supper and installation of officers last Friday evening at the Masonic Hall Renwick. A short ceremony preceded the installation of the Eastern Stars officers. Mrs. W. H. Long gave a musical reading and Mrs. Raymond Gorrell presented flowers to incoming worthy matron Mrs. Genevieve Caner and associate matron Mrs. Nagmi Flemmis. Gorrell was worthy matron last year.
County Farm Bureau and 4 H clubs unite in a statewide effort to raise funds for seeds to plant 3 000 gardens for European families. Leaders urge 26 clubs to contribute, aiming for 29 seed packets at $3 each. State and town 4 H presidents outline a plan to fund seed purchases, with proceeds sent to Church World Service for distribution.

Vernon dropped a two game set to LaVerne Tuesday night in a Little League style frame. The shaky start and errors hampered Vernon as LaVerne seized control with strong batting and solid pitching.
Funeral services are set for December 28 for Elmer Farr 77 who died at Lutheran Hospital in Ft Dodge on Thursday. The services will be at the home of his daughter Mrs Fritz Krause with Rev P Wy Neéal in charge. Interment will be in Waucoma. He is survived by two sons Clifford of Texas and Donald Farr of Pittsburgh Fern a daughter Mrs Fritz Krause of Renwick and three grandchildren.
A broken pipe feeding the Bogard Pool caused a short shutoff of town water Sunday morning. The fault was repaired as quickly as possible and service was restored shortly after.
