AMVETS Auxiliary to Meet and Men’s Club Dinner

The Men’s Community Club will meet next Monday night January 5 at the school home with a seven o’clock dinner. Leland Albaugh of Armes will speak on nutrition after recent Greece travel. Music from Renwick quartet. AMVETS Auxiliary to hold monthly meeting at Arvets Hall Friday December 5 at 2 p.m.

New 1950 Chevrolet On Display Saturday

A new series of Chevrolet passenger cars, hailed as highly important, will be unveiled Saturday January 7. Detroit general sales manager WE Fish announced dealers nationwide begin elaborate showroom presentations as enthusiasm grows for the first showings of the new model.

New Year Guests And Visits Across Boone Township

A string of New Year greetings and visits flows through Boone Township as Mr and Mrs George Latch and others spend New Year’s Eve at Alfred Kleen’s. Visitors include Mr and Mrs Oscar Engstrom at Jim Yungelas, Mr and Mrs Norman Larson at Refine Rossman, and Frank Kingstrom’s family in Minneapolis. Additional gatherings involve the Helmke and Anderson families in Eagle Grove, Porterfields hosting relatives, and Jensen and Ronesson households in St Louis and nearby towns. Minnie Jouen plans to spend winter in St Louis with daughter Niels Jensen.

Wright County Farm Bureau mail campaign has secured about 50 members with 2 in continuous membership agreements, reducing campaign work. Kick Off was January 2 and canvassing began January 4. County quota stands at 114. Harry Bryson of the American Farm Bureau was the feature speaker. Gerhard Thompson chaired the Kick-Off meeting.

Renwick and Vernon Basketball Back in Action

Renwick girls and boys resumed play after Christmas. They beat Dows here and travel to Gilmore City Friday. Vernon teams went to Wesley and host Goldfield Friday. Next week January 10 14 they compete in the Little Nine Tournament at LaVerne with pairings drawn Tuesday.

Legion and Auxiliary Enjoy Oyster Supper

The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary hosted an oyster supper at the Legion Hall last Friday. Guests listened to the Town and Country Quiz on radio station WHO, originating in Renwick on November 11, with proceeds to the polio fund. The evening concluded with card games.

Independent B B teams suffer losses in close games

The Independent basketball team lost to Bancroft College 46 to 44 on Thursday. Renwick Independent second team beat Bancroft Independent 147 to 42. The Independents then lost Monday evening in overtime to Bode 38 to 36. Local team defeated Fort Dodee 36. Several games are being scheduled soon.
