The Regular Tried N True 4 H Club met Friday December 16 at Mrs R M Goensch home with Judy Goensch as hostess. Members and leaders attended two business sessions before Christmas games and gift exchange. A hot lunch was served by Judy and her mother. Reporter Nan Latch.
Renwick High School reports student New Year resolutions with names such as Marguerite Siemens Donna Nissen Beulah Yanney Rosella Palmeteer Kuna Hoeppner and others. A Yule log service at Mrs RM Goettsch home featured teachers and seniors in carol led ceremonies. Student of the week LaVonne Halverson earned basketball honor and vacation planned through January 3.
The Intermediate Room notes indicate student absences due to illness. The group held spell downs amid a stage lesson for Christmas week and enjoyed them. Final health tests were passed and the fourth grade completed their geography semester exam.
Vernon residents hosted a Christmas dinner with Omer and Mrs. Davis as hosts. Guests included Dr. Earl Smith and Wanda from Slater, Mary E. Smonth, Ed Richards of Ames, Rose Teck of Nehads, Chris H Schneider, Chas Holland of Forest City, Otto Aust and son of Storm Lake, Ole Carlson family, Frank French and Des Moines friends, and many others from nearby towns enjoying holiday together. Other social notes mention Clar Stors, George Rice, and Eagle Grove visitors, plus gatherings hosted by Elias Carlson and Loren Reed.
