Hardy Votes on Bonds for New School Building Friday

The Hardy Independent School District schedules a special election on Friday January 24 to decide on financing a new school building with a $30,000 bond. A $24,850 PWA grant plus bond funds would finance a project costing about $52,000 to be built in Hardy of brick to house 300 to 400 pupils. Fire Friday morning at the G. L. Peterson residence near the chimney traced to a defective flue. Arc team contained the blaze quickly but attic timbers and the roof over the east part were heavily burned. Interior suffered water and smoke damage. household goods largely saved. The Republican National Committee fixed Cleveland Ohio as the site for the 1936 GOP convention on June 8 1926 after bid competition with Chicago and Kanasa City. Cleveland led with 54 votes to 33 and 6, and posted a 180000 dollar deposit for convention expenses. Delegates total 4001, with four at large and two per district.
