Boone Valley boys led most of the game before Lake Mills surged in the final minutes to win 61 59 in a first round sectional. Myron May topped Boone Valley with 22 points while Ron Larson and Mike Huntley added 11 apiece.
Dr. Sutton asks local residents to contact her by tomorrow if they want to organize and attend a Red Cross first aid program. The plan is to hold eight 2 hour sessions totaling 16 hours, with the evening most convenient to attendees indicated. An announcement with dates will follow.
The Boone Valley Concert Band under W. Keith Baessler will present a winter concert in the high school auditorium Friday evening at 8:00. The public is urged to attend.
The Renwick post office and Renwick Bank will be closed all day Saturday in observance of George Washington's birthday. All other Renwick businesses remain open as usual.

Latch & Mills won first place among eight teams at the Eagle Grove women’s bowling tournament held February 7 8 9 earning a traveling trophy. Team members include Mrs George Mills Mrs N H Hesse Mrs Merlin Neuburger Mrs W Keith Baessler and Mrs Bert Sankey. H Coop won second place and Renwick Creamery placed third with team members named.
The Renwick Light Plant hosted the first in a series of safety meetings for town employees. C. H. Straight safety supervisor of the REA led the session focusing on checking safety equipment and proper grounding of Wye and Delta systems.

Grandparents Anton Rasmussen Eagle Grove and Mrs Peter Hansen Fort Dodge. Mr and Mrs David C. Miller Chicago announce a daughter born February 17 weighing eight pounds 3 ounces. Grandparents J F Miller Chicago and W H Attig. Two brothers and a sister. Mrs Attig left for Chicago to help at the Miller home.
The BTW Club met Thursday afternoon at Mrs Glen Martin's home. Mrs Marion Huntley taught the lesson on caring for upholstered furniture. Guests included Mrs Bruce Fisher of Rolfe and Mrs Addie Livingston of Corwith.
Esther Circle of the Methodist WSCS met Wednesday in the home of Mrs Steve Palmer. Mrs Alfred Kleen gave the worship and Mrs John Zimmerman presented the lesson. Lunch was served. Callers Sunday included the Henry Bloom home with Mr and Mrs Verne Ross and Kathy of Spencer. Sunday dinner guests at Donald Ellis home in Rockwell City were Mr and Mrs Bob Fisher and Harlan and Mr and Mrs Eugene Fisher and Debra.

Neighbors gathered at the Wesley Schultz home Friday for a farewell courtesy. August Huschka Herman Nissen Donald Raber Maurice Nissen and Jon Orval Hoffman families attended. Playing cards and a guest-provided lunch followed. The Schultz family received a gift as they prepare to move to a Cresco farm.
In a thrilling sectional final Boone Valley defeats LaVerne 53 to 52 after LuVerne led 52 51 with four seconds left. Mary Gilligan sinks two free throws to seal the win as Boone Valley shoots 44 percent to LuVerne 16 field goals.
The Cerebral Palsy Mothers Club of Humboldt and Pocahontas Counties called for forming a Parents of Handicapped Youngsters group during a Thursday meeting at the First Lutheran Church in Humboldt. They urged interested parents to contact Mrs Helmer Lenning, Mrs Stanley Pitman of Humboldt, Mrs Edwin Jensen of Gilmore City, or the Public Health Nurse in Pocahontas or Humboldt County.
