Richardson to Des Moines for Christmas visit

A. B. Richardson travels to Des Moines this Saturday night to spend Christmas and the following week at his daughter's home. Bert Clement accompanies the group to West Bend and plans to perform there, while Mrs. Terry Mitchell was admitted early Monday to Fort Dodge hospital for an appendectomy and is reported progressing as expected.

Wendell Turner Shows Ten Prize Winning Pigs

Wendell Turner displays a litter of ten belted Hampshire pigs that won top honors. The Renwick 4-H member raised the pigs at home during four years in 4-H club work. Litter averaged 110 pounds at four months with costs totaling 65.28 dollars for four months. The 10 pigs valued at 160 dollars for breeding, yielded an estimated profit of 87.44 dollars after prizes at fairs and state shows. Wright county placed third in the overall judging with Turner earning a Hampshire Swine Record gold medal for best litter in brood sow production.

Gassed by Gar Fumes Causes Narrow Escape

Mr and Mrs Erwin Shurtz narrowly escaped death Saturday night when their Ford car began to fill with gas on the way to town. They reached town exhausted and weak with Mr Shurtz collapsing and Mrs Shurtz calling for help. Their infant was reportedly unaffected and the couple recovered after doctors were summoned.
