At Renwick Lutheran Church the church women gather for a reception honoring the Rebekah Circle sponsored by the Martha Circle with speaker Mrs Norris Olson, newly elected Iowa District ALCW president. Holy Communion observed and no Sunday School in August. The ALCW meets in the church parlor with Martha Circle in charge of a program about prayer and The Garden of Prayer. Hostesses named.
Hardy United Methodist Church announces pastor D H Hardy Rev Jons, withTool as pastor, will be on vacation August 4 and August 18. No Sunday School during the month of August.
United Methodist Church announces Rev. Romakd D. Fetrak as pastor for services at 8 30 Sunday School and 10 30 worship. North Iowa Bible Conference at Okoboji Methodist Camp begins and continues through August 1 with daily Bible study at 3 am and evening sessions at 7 pm. Iowa Conference Summer Assembly opens at a location in the conference region.
Watermelon Day in Renwick adopts an all-day schedule with a 10 30 a m parade, free watermelon, and a tractor pull MC Don Warren from WHO Radio. The event features revised serving times from 2 to 4 30 p m and 8 30 p m, with a queen vote and reminders about go carts being omitted.
Entries for this year include Mardyle Pederson Becky Klasse Rey Cathcart Kathy Mckenna Susan Burk Jerri Erdman and Joan May Voting will decide the queen who will represent Renwick at the Humboldt County Fair next year.
A fashion event titled Style Show for women and girls with Fall Styles in Revue by Ora's of Humboldt will occur at Renwick School Auditorium at 2 pm on August 8. The program includes a parade of queen candidates, music, prizes, punch and wafers.
More names added to the growing list of donations for the new Izaak Walton Building. William Pogge entered Mercy Hospital Mason City on Monday July 22 for observation and care. Dr and Mrs Ernest Pogge George and Dorothy Pogge of Lawrence Kansas visited a few days with his parents. Mrs Pogge remained near the hospital to be close to her husband.
Mrs. Emma Rasmussen is admitted to Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove on Saturday.
Mr and Mrs Jerry Roseberry and families take Paul James Alan Roseberry and Dennis Bittrelm to Prairie Gold Bay Scout Camp at Lake Okoboji for the week. Sam Nerem and family bring Douglas James Dave Rundle Dave Anderson and Scott Nerem. pastor and family will be away August 6 to 7. Woman's Society of Christian Service holds its monthly church breakfast and program. WSCS State Convention in Iowa begins at Riverview Park Cedar Falls and runs through August 10.
Mrs. Doris Keister and Mrs. Inda Blesie flew to Washington D C July 11 visiting Mrs. M J Orlando in Kensington and touring D C sites. They attended sessions at the Capitol and Air Force Band and Marine Barracks concerts, visited Annapolis Naval Academy and Gettysburg to view Eisenhower’s farm, dined with the Orlando family in Arlington, and returned to Cedar Rapids for a weekend in the Dale Blesis home.
Mr and Mrs Ray Mills have made several trips over two weeks to see Lis moré Stole who is a patient at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.
A Sunday July 28 open house celebrated the 40th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Diels S Hefty of Hardy in conjunction with the Kirkendall family reunion at the Dick A Hefty home in Webster City. Immediate family gathered for a morning photo then church. Seven children and 17 grandchildren attended. Families from Omaha Palatine Boone Cedar Falls Oxford Humboldt Kalona Estherville Fergus Falls Minn Eagle Grove Rosemount Minn Goldfield Livermore Webster City Renwick were listed. John Zimmerman was admitted to Lithéran Hospital at Fort Dodge on Thursday July 25 and remained a patient.
Mrs Eddie L Bygness attended the gold wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Fred Claude of Goldfield in Clarion on Sunday July 28. She played piano for the honored couple and joined Mrs Stupka in song. The program closed with a duet How Great Thou Art.
The French family picnic and reunion took place Sunday at the American Legion Building with about 100 attendees from Illinois South Dakota Nebraska Wisconsin California Minnesota and Iowa. It marked forty years since the first gathering in 1928. A memorial for Mrs. Mida Dean was observed and moving pictures of past picnics were shown. Jack Adams played an interview recording featuring Mrs. Mida Doan recounting the migration from Wisconsin to Humboldt County. Officers were re elected: President Mrs. Marvin Nelson historian Mrs Jack Adams and secretary treasurer Mrs Merle Martin. The group plans another reunion on the last Sunday in July in two years.
Mr and Mrs Raymond Larson attended the Thompson Larson family reunion Sunday at the Gail Haffe home in Algona, sharing time with relatives.

Mr and Mrs Henry Kraft and Tonnie visited Mallard on Wednesday to see their grandson Jeff who broke his arm on Sunday at a picnic.

Mrs Matilda White joined the Lowle Bram family at Sunday dinner near Mason City. Mr Bram returned Friday from Mason City hospital where he had been a patient after a heart attack.
Barry the dashhound was admitted to Ft. Dodge Animal Hospital on Wednesday July 24 for a tonsillectomy. Doctors Grege Larsah and Lisa Larsah oversee the care as the pet owner describes the dog’s eventful day and recovery.
The county fair produced strong showings for BV Club with multiple trophies and ribbons in junior and senior pleasure classes. Maggie Huntley Miller and Vicki Sobek impressed in the senior quarter mile race while Irwin Friday showcased a standout string of Appaloosas. Controller Virginia Purvis earned credit as fair secretary and organizers urged riders to confirm plans to ride with Eagle Grove next Sunday.
