Court panel backs combining WV court offices and family courts
A West Virginia Supreme Court panel recommends creating a unified family court system to replace lawmasters and handle divorce and abuse cases, merging magistrate and circuit clerk offices, and delaying several civil liability reform ideas while studying frivolous suits. The panel also endorses a constitutional amendment to empower the Legislature to create court systems and plans a Dec. 1 written report to the court.
